Unfortunately he will be lucky to even make it past the heats. But still good to follow him.

LJ Van Zyl, if he can regain some form fast.

But as said above, Sunette Viljoen is the one that comes to mind first

Sunette is the only one that comes to mind. Without her performing we might win zero medals.

    SWIMMING:

Cameron van der Burgh: AFAIK he is actually a 50m Breast swimmer? (he holds the WR in the 50m)
BUT there is no 50m Breast at the Olympics, so he has to swim the 100m. Going to be very tough going up guys like Kosuke Kitajima etc. I rate its going to be touch go for BRONSE.

Chad le Clos: I rate he will medal in the 200m Fly. Not that common of a event, and he is up there with his current times.

4x100m Free relay (Gold in 2004): Not very likley. At our Olympic trails the winning 100m free time was a 49. something. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics USA went 46.06 in the final 100m. We out more than 3 seconds on one leg of the 400m with a time set 4 years ago.

    I also thought so...

I was listening to a radio show where they stated that in the current SA womans hockey team in the most experienced of all time and bla bla bla. Few days later they lost to the Netherlands like 5 - 0.

I love they way TPTB say that the nation is expecting 12 medals to come from the team, well that is BS because we should expect more people to go and more medals to come home. How many years has South Africa been to the Olympics and how long has South Africa known about the Olympics because we know there are hundreds of events and we should be filling spots in the majority of those events and competing for models. It's a slap in the face to send 100 people to an event like this and feel that 12 medals is good enough.

According to SASCOC they only send Athletes that can preduce medals. Competing at international level not only a great way of getting exposure and improve on your personal best it also gives you the needed experience. I would fully understand if SASCOC only send 100 athletes because that is all they can afford, BUT then again I suppose they should have a look at where they are actually spend the budget.

Then only send 12 people then if 12 medals is all you want and save us millions. There are most likely more support staff going then people taking part. If you want to expose people to this type of event then work on it and send 500 people like the Chinese or Americans do, you have 4 years in which to train people and out of the 100's of sports involved, there must be a sport where there are only a handful of competitors thereby making your chances of winning SOMETHING very good.

I'd be happy if we win at least one. Last Olympics was nearly a disaster.
