Default Google Now, Available for ICS phones.

If you have ICS on your phone and its rooted here is a way to get Google Now well erm now.

See XDA for full how-to but its as simple as:
    • Open Root Explorer & navigate to /system
    • Now Open build.prop in Text Editor.
    • Edit ro.build.version.sdk = 16 & save.
    • Now go to /system/app & Rename GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk to GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk1
    • Now reboot & install the app from the download link.
    • Now edit build.prop & change ro.build.version.sdk = 15 & reboot.

1st release with no voice but its a start.

You can now also get Jelly bean's auto predict keyboard for your ICS phone see XDA thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1763802

Or just head on over to https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....bean_keyboard and pick it up.

    Just note as per XDA
Port of the AO working for SP Jelly Bean keyboard (alpha version). Full prediction is English. Normal word prediction and bigram prediction is working for French, German, Spanish, Russian and Portugese (Brasil)

    Known issues:
    * Unfortunately there are some problems with the user dictionary on ICS, so that feature is turned off. (Adding words will cause a FC)
    * only aforementioned languages have prediction support

1st Phone needs to be rooted.
2nd Some editors requite you to change the permission and allow "Other" to read and write to the file.

3rd If you did not know about the 1st 2, it might not be a good idea to continue.

I played with Google Now to test it before I flashed a new MIUI rom and it does look cool, do not think I will ever use it as I normally keep my Location info off. Guess same goes for the keyboard, will test it on Friday before I flash the update, but something tells my I will most probably go back to Touchpal.

Hmmm. So far, Google Now doesn't do all that much for me:

    1. In the morning, it gives me a weather report for the day.

    2. When I leave for work in the morning or go home in the evening, it gives me a traffic report for the N1 (this is very useful!).

    3. It pops up a reminder card when I have an appointment - but the Calendar app on Android already had notifications.

So, not that much then. But, the fact that it does so autonomously, and uses AI to predict what information you will want, seems to indicate the beginning of something very impressive. It feels almost like the first step to creating a computer like the one in Iron Man, which knows all the info that Tony Stark wants to hear in the morning without him having to ask. When you get in a car and Google Now pops up a traffic report for your destination without you even having to tell your phone what your destination is, it already feels very sci-fi and futuristic.

It learns and add them as time goes on. Also like the sport card, can see potential in this app as time moves on.

I just love Google Now, it works like a charm using voice commands and asking various questions. Definitely works a million times better than SVoice. (running Jelly Bean on my S3)
