Good luck doing it on that piece of junk.
You'll most likely have to buy a new router (eg. MikroTik RB750) if you want to do something like that.
worst rubbish modem you can get
All the above are correct new modem
If it walks like a duck and kwaks like a duck ..its a duck
Very few ADSL modems include QoS that actually works, and they are usually pretty expensive.
this modem is so crap , can't even work as a door stopper.
seriously my cousin had one, it dies if you copy 2gb of data over the lan on it o.0
Pc:Amd 750k,MSI A85XA-G65,8gb ram,GTX 480 850/2000 ,Vertex 2 100gb
Laptop : HP Envy 14 I5 460m,4GB ram,HD5650M,256GB SSD,1600x900 Radiance display!
Hi Bl!nD
There are some people with a lot of posts on this and other forums who clearly spend a lot of time online, making it their business to this badmouth this router. Usually they prove in their answers that they actually have no clue of the functionality of the router whilst showing that they have a certain level of technical skill. Makes one wonder if there is not some commercial interest/motivation for them to be saying what they are.
Bearing in mind what Pada says :"Very few ADSL modems include QoS that actually works, and they are usually pretty expensive."If this is true, then the duoPlus 300WR must be the best deal aroundIf you look in the menu structure under Advanced, QoS, you will find out how to set QoS that actually works:
Not only can you set relative traffic by %, you can also set actual Kb/s speed limits - this can be applied independently per PPP connection, each individual Ethernet port or each WI-Fi AP name (yes, you can have many different AP names each with their own security, PPP connection and/or QoS). You can apply limits per protocol or port, and can even apply the rules based on MAC address. AND, it actually works.
Please feel free to PM me your requirements and email address and we can assist you with any config difficulties.
I'd like to take advantage of your offer for help! Cant seem to find much about this...
I have a 300WR, connects to Mweb. Connection name is quickstart.
Then, I have 2 PC's connected via lan, and 6 connected via wireless.
So 8 PC's in total. I need 2 of the PC's to have 100% priority. So, basically, if one of the "priority" pc's come online and need to download/do someting - slow all the rest down to a standstill while the priority PC does its thing. When done it can then balance the traffic out accordingly to the rest of the PC's again. I can get the mac addresses, think it would be easier to do it this way - but cant seem to find where to enter the mac addresses and shaping rules? Any chance of a nudge in the right direction pls?
Waits for MR. 2C Telecoms to enlighten us on the wonderful merits of the 300WR.

My opinion it is still the worst modem
Hi FNFal.
Mr Wireless sent a PM and I have responded to that in detail, as I have with quite a few other (now satisfied) users.
If you have a particular interest in this query, I will be happy to forward you the PM.
In short, the quickest way in his application to lock the QoS to a MAC address is to first lock a static IP address to the PC's MAC, and then route based on IP.

Hi Spamhater,
The wonderful thing about a democracy is that you are generally entitled to have an opinion, and to voice that opinion. In fact, having an opinion is the cornerstone of a true democracy. The trouble comes when opinion is stated as fact.
The vast majority of the (VERY) many people that have this router seem to have no problem with it at all. If you feel that you have just cause to have the opinion that you give, then you are more than welcome to PM me the list of issues that you have experienced, and we would be happy to look into them. If there is substance to them, we will look into including fixes in the next firmware release.
We are always happy to receive any bug reports for our products since while we do comprehensive testing on all of our products, it is not possible to fully test all functions under all conditions. As a result it is not uncommon in electronic devices to find small issues. This is why firmware in routers are designed to be user upgraded.
looking forward to hearing from you.

Even the Netgear Series is better Duo Plus 300.
Throw the router out the window and make sure you drive over it a few times and then go buy yourself a Routerboard 750 or TP Link.
My aunt is having endless WiFi connectivity issues with this crappy modem. I've already improved it dramatically by changing the WiFi channel.
I'm really about to buy her a TP-Link W8960N / D-Link DSL-2750U as a replacement for that junk.

Have been using a 300WR since we first got ADSL 4 years ago and it hasn't caused any issues running 3 PC's via ethernet, as well as an HTPC and a few laptops via Wifi. I haven't tried changing the QoS settings though.
