But.... there's no proper user manual with it, and I can't figure out how to get it to go online! The Cell C Simcard is inside. Help!
    Big mistake......

    Only tablets worth anything is
a Eee pad transformer + keyboard or
    b iPad

Anything else is just crap, well unless you can get a nexus 7 but is not even out yet.

Well no, that's just a quickstart guide. doesn't give me the kind of details I need to get the most out of the device.

and as a pdf on the tablet. Menu, user manual.
I guess I'll have to copy it to a PC and print it out.

Download opera mobile for a much improved web browsing, also has pinch to zoom.
Are you saying pinch to zoom is a feature of the Opera Mobile browser, or a feature of the tablet?

Tell me exactly what problems you are having and il try to help.
Well, for one, I find the touch screen difficult to use. It seems unresponsive at times, and I often hit the wrong thing.

Then for a start: how does one move through input text in order to edit part of something typed, without deleting everything back to that point, ie does it have the equivalent of arrow keys on a keyboard, as opposed to the backspace key?

Also, how would one select several characters, the equivalent of click and drag on a PC, or using the shift key together with the trackball on a Blackberry.

Btw, have u ever used android before?
    Nope, afraid not.

    Thanks,
    Ros.

Nope pinch to zoom is a OS feature.

For this it depends on the keyboard, personally I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...t.keyboardplus on my tablet to cater for this but I think its a paid for app? Installed it so long ago that I forgot if it is. You can also try other keyboards that will cater for it, or maybe yours already does, do not know. For example Touchpal has an edit mode but not thumb layout but its free or maybe other people can give better suggestions?

To select text you can long press on it till a select box appear, then you can move em to what you wanna do. Or again get a keyboard that supports it, see example below of Touchpal's edit mode.

.... and thanks for all the fish.

Pinch zoom is a hardware feature too. If the hardware can't handle a double touch, you can't pinch zoom (ask me I have a phone that has that problem).

Android is not as restrictive as iPad and apps are far easier to buy.

iPad need loads of tinkering to fool it into thinking you are American in order to get access to truly useful apps... South African app store is up to no good...

I use an iPad myself and it is a wonderful piece of hardware, but as I said be warned it is restrictive. Android tablets are easier to use as usb drives for instance and can play virtually any file without hassle... iPads need a lot of begging...

Lots of tinkering? Well if that's what you call entering an American address in the android world then I guess it is tinkering. iTunes is a bit of a pain but that's not needed to load photos, videos or even files if you have the right apps.

OK, I downloaded "Opera Mini". Is that the right thing? Pinch to zoom isn't working for me.

    1st install https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...touchpro.tests

see if your device actually support multitouch. Before you go around hunting for x or y application.

Or a simple change of country from SA to Kenya to get virtually the same apps as the US.

I agree, if you want to use a tablet as a USB dongle then the iPad isn't the simplest method (using a R50 usb dongle is )
