Wow, Vodacom just don't get it. All they have to do is copy everyone else and they don't get that right.
How about 5 sms a month and 500mb, that's an actual smartphone package
Give me 200 anytime minutes, 50 sms, 500mb and I'm in.
Those data sizes seem absurd to me. I use wifi 80% of the time and still manage to burn through 300-500Mb of 3G data a month.
@rpm:
1. Please explain this sentence on the home page: "Vodacom Smart Plans take on Cell C’s Straight Up packages" Nowhere in the article can I see the "take on" part? PS. This is News24-style headline - not good.
@vodacom:
1. Please explain what is "smart" in the so-called "Smart Plan"?
2. Where is the list of phones (...Smart Plans that include the smartphone...) customers can select from?
3. Please try to explain the logic in the "out of allowance voice" rates?
There is nothing smart or attractive about this failed attempt to take on Cell C. It's filled with tons of provisos and catches. Even my wife thinks porting to Cell C makes sense.
Shameel Jusoob & Pieter Uys will have to think outside the box to compete with Alan Knott-Graig. He will destroy Vodacom. By the looks of these "not so Smart Packages" it won't be long. I will be porting soon my 6 contracts to CellC
Vodacom's Road to recovery must start by getting rid of the people who came up with these packages and then the marketing team who put it out there. As a parting gift, give them Nokia 1011's so they can stay intouch via SMS.
I bought a Dual Sim phone from Game for R250. Going to use my Vodacom Sim for incoming calls and Cellc for outgoing. You can't match the simplicity (and price) of Cellc having per second billing.

Vodacom and the other service providers just don't get it.
Two year contracts are still being dragged from the 1990s when innovation was slow and it took a long time to release a new phone (or maybe the quality control was still much better).
Nowadays a new phone gets launched every year from the major manufacturers, but we cannot have a yearly contract?
I know it will be more expensive blah blah blah, but I also know if I commit to a two year contract now, I will have to take out another contract if I want to get a new phone after a year.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 - It is the only phone you will ever need.
I hope vodafail is reading this thread... They are so full of themselves and suffer from invincibility syndrome.
Can somebody confirm, these packages include the cost of the handset right?
What about those subscribers who rarely use their phones to make calls but consume a lot of data.Must we now take the smart super option for R1 700 and get burdened with 1000's of call minutes that we aren't even going to use.
People can now communicate through email and whatsapp so excessive call time is completely unnecessary.
Give us 50 min and 500MB and then were talking.
There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.
If there's no phone included with these deals -which seems to be the case - why not rather opt for RBM's deal?
200 anytime minutes
100 mms/sms
500MB
for R249 p/m
