Android and iOS - top 10 apps

Have not heard of any of these apps, but will definitely be looking at them. Thanks.

Bizarre ratings. Can't find that prank cam and the maths one isn't rated in store.

Agreed

The way people can buy ratings lately I tend to avoid apps that rates 100% or 10 out of 10. Saw an article about it on macworld or something that the new craze is to tender for review groups. Pay something like $100 and have 500 people give you full marks with some praize review.

Could not find the original but here is some more about the new world problem:

How to rig the Apple App Store's ratings
Developers and customers alike can't always trust that a Top 25 app is actually popular, thanks to games some developers play

Paid-for Reviews to Scam the App Store – There’s a Site for That

Problem appears on all the stores and is not limited to Apple or Google or Windows Phone for that matter.

Interesting feedback, thanks everyone. I'll look into it further before using info from this website again.

I am on the Apple US App store and have not seen any of these apps in their "Whats hot" or recommened sections.

I think the more accurate stats should come from the providers themselves as I would assume that these are self promoted apps.

Well the name "Quality Index" tells me its not about the top sales but the best quality, but as I pointed out in post 5, I would not trust it for all its worth.

That said, its well known that iOS apps in general is of better quality than Android apps when it comes to design but that is a given. If you know that the quality of your design could affect it not being listed in the App store you would generally pay more attention to detail than an open market where no one but end users care how it looks like.

On the other hand known brands/apps in general is about the same quality on both platforms.

They must be using Netdyanmix's counting method.
+1 !

I haven't heard of any of those applications and I'm doing smartphone software development on a daily basis.

A top downloaded list would be much better than a simple rating one, unless the rating list requires a sub-minimum of like 1000 reviews.
