Anyways, jesus, that looks rough. I understand what you're trying to portray, so I hate to appose, but you could argue that whatever hit that car would also have done enough damage to destroy any of the entry level cars we sell (referring to VW Vivo, Hyundai i10, Kia Picanto).

It's true that the bigger you are on the road generally the safer you are, I want to know what happened to that car. It looks like it either hit or was hit by a truck, at which point I'd say unless you were in a truck as well you would be no safer. Look at Youtube videos of Escalades getting hit by trucks, they practically disintegrate.

It comes down to what you want and what you can afford. Want a safe car? Buy a batmobile. Safety is obviously not the Nano's selling point.

On the bright side, if some drunk teenager does rear end you in a Nano your '99 Corolla will still be okay, aside from some blood stains of course.
I'm not sure about the others but the I10 has a 4 star NCAP rating.

In the case of the Chinese, you get what you pay for.

Unless you are Uber Wealthy and can afford to p!ss your money into the breeze, steer clear of any Geely.

My fiance has an i10. It has ABS and EBD, crumple zones, side impact protection beams, twin airbags etc. It is a lot safer than a Nano.

    63kw/110 engine
    6 airbags (5 star CN-CAP rating)
    Electric windows
    Aircon
    Power-steering
    ABS and EBD
    6 speaker MP3 system
    3 year/100 000km warranty

I know it's easy to dismiss Chinese cars, but for 105k it's still an impressive deal?

Can you count on any of that actually working when it counts? They put brand new cars through these tests, not used 2-year old ones.

Whatever hit that car must have been huge, or going at quite a pace...

That is rather slow... So, you would feel as safe in a Nano, as you would in a i10?

    Not by a long shot...

But I would guess that was 30 - 40km/h in that crash test...

I am intrigued by the Nano as a means of getting to and from work.. nothing else....

Fair enough... I just don't want them on highways.
