Available on ebay for ~R4543 - incl of shipping. Works out to below R6999 even with the possibility of VAT (110% on the value) sometimes added by customs.

    Edit:
Otherwise give a service like www.myus.com a go.

The original blocks are awesome, but these are awesome too.

Apparently there is a lego shop in fourways somewhere that you buy by weight.

So you go in, build what you want and then go to the front and buy it according to how much it weighs.

    I think its this place:

I wish http://www.buildwithchrome.com/static/map would include more block types.

Virtual Lego is enough for me for now
.... and thanks for all the fish.

Agreed. The more specialized it becomes the less you can do with it.

TakeALOT / Kalahari.net (damnit, i forgot who) had a special on a 200pc box of lego for R100 and about 30 odd for delivery so i took it and its quite fun. I bought it for the nephew but he hasn't grasped what they meant for so going to give it to him for his next birthday (010113). But the one you want is even more fun . Hate being ripped off when you see teh comparisons like this

If you do find a good price online or offline then let us know please

I'm with you on that. I just wanted piles and piles of blocks. Any idea if you can get cheap blocks somewhere for my son? Surely China must be producing them in masses by now.
