Default need suggestions for a location (in Cape Town) to set a scene in my screenplay

    Hi there

I'm a screenwriter writing a thriller/action script set in Cape Town. A scene in my script describes 2 groups of villains meeting to make some kind of (dodgy) deal in Cape Town (think hostage exchange), but I'm trying to think of the best location in the city where something like this could conceivably take place, perhaps some rundown or abandoned area, but definitely a location away from prying eyes (i.e. authorities, public, etc.)

I would appreciate any kind of suggestion, preferably within Cape Town or not too far outside. Try and be as specific with the location as possible so I can check it on Google maps or visit the place myself.

    I'll appreciate any help.

    Thanks
    Screenwriter

Check around Woodstock, Salt River, Alfred Albert Road iirc, leading to the GoodHope Centre. Or the warehouse area on the Foreshore behind Culemborg Motors, or the dockyard if you can get in there. Maitland along Voortrekker towards Durham Road Circle. Or the container yard in Maitland.

You probably won't even need actors. Just hang around long enough and keep the camera rolling.

Mitchell's Plain, Mnandi beach is perfect for a scene like that.
Why do people get attacked by sharks? I mean, how do you not hear the background music?

What about one of the airfields around CT? There is the one near Durbanville that had that dodgy flight school, forget what it is called now. Stellenbosch also has an airfield which may work. Otherwise second the Woodstock, Epping and Parow Industria ideas. There are also lots of farms you could use in the area from crappy ones to fancy ones depending on the vibe you need.

The Transnet rolling stock yard could also be pretty cool near to the N1, you could also use some of the old unused tracks out towards Franschoek as well.

Going further out on the wall of one of the dams like Theewaterskloof or Steenbras could be pretty cool too.

You could do it on Melkbos with Koeberg in the background.

I would avoid the dockyard as you are more likely to get in trouble there. Maybe best to let the police know in advance so you don't get arrested, you know that is the one time they will react fast:O

Also I think you should look in to the permit story...

I like the idea of the airfield. I used to fly around Fisantekraal airfield -just outside Durbanville. They used to shoot quite a number of ads there and it's nice and isolated.
Do a search for Fisantekraal (or Aerosport Western Cape) in google maps, put it on satellite and zoom out (in) a little -you'll clearly see the airfield.

The back streets of Woodstock have some cool warehouse type places.

I just wanna say that; If you are actually a drug dealer and new to town. And that this is your way of scouting venues to do your own dealings in - I give you props for your ingenious method of finding suitable venues

What was the name of that township in the movie Safehouse?
    Surrounding area should be perfect.
