Default Would you try to be a hero?

You're walking on your own and then approached by a man with a knife asking for your belongings. What would you do?

In my head I picture myself fighting him off with spinning kicks and upper cuts but I'm sure if it were to really happen i'd probably just do whatever he asked.

    A knife?

I suspect I'd run, as I can sprint pretty fast.

In reality though, I've no idea what I'd do.

I would call him a couple of highly derogatory names after he has taken my stuff and is outside lunging and stabbing distance. I can also sprint very fast should he wish to react to this.

He's not really 'approaching' then, is he?

I dunno, really. Depends on a lot of things. Having dealt with my brother being stabbed in the lung by a mugger, and seeing the astonishing amount of damage and blood one little knife-wound can inflict, I'd probaly be pretty careful one way or the other.

If I can keep a clear head I'd look for an opening for a sucker punch or a swift kick to the nads, and simply relent if an opportunity doesn't present itself. However, knowing myself I'd probably fly off the handle - I don't react well to impudence - and end up in a scenario where one of us won't be walking away. Just who that would be would depend on size of the knife and the bastard's skill in handling it.

I was mugged in similar circumstances: 5:00 am I was walking up to the main road to catch a taxi to go to town. I had an urgent deadline so needed to be at work early.

This guy walking down grabbed my shirt and pulled out a knife saying "give me your money!"

Unfortunately for him I had had to count up my taxi fare in brown coins as I was totally broke, so I pulled out a handfull of 20 c pieces and shouted "do you want these?" and showed him... he kind of gave up at that point and I shouted at him a bit more and he slunk down the street.

So I think fight... or at least react in a way that it not submissive.

Spin kicks and upper cuts? Really?

Some guy tried to mug me once. The guy was smaller than me and I suspect he was following me from a nearby tavern. As soon as he took my money he turned around and tried to run, I hit him in the ear and tripped him to the ground. The idiot had put his knife back into his pocket and didn't have enough time to take it out again so I proceeded to beat him while he was beneath me. During that time I wanted to smash his face with a rock. After a minute or 2 I stood up and started to run. Didn't even think of getting my money back.

I was lucky. A couple of rands isn't worth risking my life again. Next time (hopefully not) I might not be that lucky.

Nah, I'd just give him what he wants. It's not worth fighting and ending up in either jail, hospital or the morgue.

All depends on the size of the guy...if his smaller and I see a gap I might dish out a klap or too and put my 12yrs of boxing to test, but you never know in a situation.

think it all depends on experience , I have been in a ring against big guys in friendly sparring and been able to hold my own and dodge big hits.

You go and collect 7 chaos emeralds and turn into Super Sonic? Or do you already have them on your person along with 50 rings?
