Download a program called snapshot and backup your data to an external using that. it will also tell you if you have bad sectors! sometimes chkdsk doesn't always find them. How long have you had the pc? still under warranty?

i have it for about 3 years now and no the warranty is gone but ill try using snapshot and see what happens
seems to be a hardware issue as windows 7 is very very stable. avg has no problems. get avg internet security 2012. my system is cluttered with applications , multitasking runs 100%
just get Spotmau PowerSuite 2012 , the no1 system util out there . cheers
Win7 isn't freezing. It's something else.
