We've already elected dooby as president . There was no talk of dying or nationalising this thread so no politicians here.

Actually the argument is that a ford is better because it's a ford. We not arguing over which car is the best. I hear what you getting at but in our situation not much we can do . Some cars do offer good value well in SA's market LOL

Quantum my old car was a fiesta 2005 model as well, exact same issues. My car blew up 3 times, eventually they had to open the engine and from there it was game over, recently it was the throttle body and now one of the cylinders is gone and ford say could be 7k , could be 40k. Took my car away after they offered me 10k for it. granted it had 230 on the clock but in the last year i had it i spend nearly 20k on it plus i never had one accident so the body was still 100%.

Ford are a bunch of nut naaier's who will rip you off in a heart beat. I miss my fiesta cause she was good to me but i don't miss ford services .

Only heard good things about kia and i hope it's true because dealing with ford is like chucking money in the toilet . That fiesta was damn good value when i bought it though i must admit, the new fiesta 1.4 is nothing but a rip off. You can get very nice cars for 170k, hyundia/kia/renault even the vw diesel looks great. Chevloret sonic also looks decent, my mate has one and it's pretty sweet.

Yes, I stuck to the service schedule at the dealers and bought it new. Starting giving problems at 115k km and sold it at 145k km. POS...

killa... I will not touch Ford again. Was going to buy the 2.0 auto Cerato hatch this year, but eventually decided to go a different direction.

Yea i won't either, i only kept it so long because i get attached to cars haha, so the engine going was the best thing to happen because i would fixed her up and kept paying ford.

May i ask why the auto?

I have never driven an automatic but i cannot imagine driving a car without changing gears, it would feel so wrong. I also like having that instant reaction if the shyte flies but perhaps automatics also give you that .

For traffic it must be flippin awesome though

It is very relaxing in traffic and when I want to be in control, I just flick the gear lever into manual mode (still no clutch)

1.4 Ambiente R 152,509 R173,860, holy F that is how much my kia cerato 1.6 cost also the ford only has 60k service plan, the kia has 90k

Yea sticking with ford sounds like a stupid decision.

The 1.6 fords are almost 200k, you can get a 2.0 kia cerato hatch for that price.

With the 1.4 ford you get wind up windows for the back bwhahaha. Geez that 1.4 fiesta is over priced for what you get
I got my 1.6 Fiesta Titanium about 2 months ago...and I am in love with my car.
I paid 200k and it's just as blinged out as the rio... leather seats, parking sensors, usb, bluetooth wireless sync, voice control, cruise control, climate control, etc etc.

I also drove the Rio and its farkin slow IMO... they say it's 79KW but you have to be at 6000RPM to actually feel it lol.

Secondly, I cant even begin to compare the built quality between the 2... my Ford is much better quality!

Resent results also show the 1.6 petrol and 1.6 diesel fiesta engines has the best feul economy in its class.

I just feel that the extra 25K I paid for the Fiesta over the Rio was very well spent and my 1.6 has awsum power!! really!

Cerato didnt make sense to me as my insurance on a 2.0 would be insane and also my petrol would cost me so much more!

O and before driving the Fiesta I wasn't a fan of fords at all... driving one changed my mind!!

Yea but dude we were comparing 1.4 not the 1.6. The titanium is much better than that watered down 1.4 for 170k.

Titanium is features packed and looks a beauty but for 170k you can find better than a 1.4 fiesta.

Why would insurance be more for a 2.0 over a 1.6 if the price is the same? What insurance company you with? Outsurance?

Spot the troll.. might I remind him all three of us in this thread had Fords previously and they all seemed to give trouble..

The Titanium Fiesta is a nice vehicle but is pretty much a pimped version of a small entry level Fiesta.. Its the same bare bones underneath.

Prices copied off the manuf website:
    FORD FIESTA 2012 1.6 TITANIUM 5-DOOR R226610
    KIA RIO 1.4 TEC 5-DOOR R171995

That is close to R55 000 difference! that is a huge difference for tiny cars like these in this segment. What exactly are you paying extra for? the only difference I can see is a weak 1.6l engine and for that price you can get a 2.0l.

@ R226k it puts you in a Cerato, i30, Astra, Focus, Golf, Civic league, all in a segment above with more space, safety, power, everything...

@ Killa 2.0 will be considered a "sports car" by some insurance companies, especially if driver is less than 25 years old.

I'm really enjoying the Kia's...the Huyndai's are on par as well.

I've driven the Cerato sedan and for R200k it's a LOT of car compared to the alternatives.

If I had to go for a hatch now it would be the Rio...but I've got my eye on the new Sportage. For R275k it's very very sexy. If Kia can sort out their long lead times on spare parts for servicing then they'll be taking the market by storm.

But yeah, people want polo's because everyone else has polo's. It reminds me a bit of people with blackberries.

I don't get the polo craze. Geezuz i drive plenty and i honestly can say it's the dominant car on the market.

While the guy may like his ford for that kinda money there are far better cars. I would take a 2.0 kia over 1.6L

The most awesome thing about my car and i know it's a bit stupid but the rearview mirrors has this on and off switch and at first i was like WTF is it until i drove it at night, it darkened the back windows or some shyte so no more people blinding me from behind!!!!!

Ford is no doubt a good car but they skimp on many things and give you the least they can for the most amount of cash. Plus it's still only a 60k plan they give and you have to deal with those scam artists.
If kia could get stocks as mentioned sorted along with hyundai they could become the biggest selling cars in the world. Kia has some amazing cars coming out soon as well.
