The Black Stone (Arabic: الحجر الأسود al-Ḥajar al-Aswad) is the eastern cornerstone of the Kaaba, the ancient stone building toward which Muslims pray, in the center of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It is revered by Muslims as an Islamic relic, which, according to Muslim tradition, dates back to the time of Adam and Eve.
The stone was venerated at the Kaaba in pre-Islamic pagan times. It was set intact into the Kaaba's wall by the Islamic Prophet Muhammad in the year 605 A.D., five years before his first revelation. Since then it has been broken into a number of fragments and is now cemented into a silver frame in the side of the Kaaba. Its physical appearance is that of a fragmented dark rock, polished smooth by the hands of millions of pilgrims. Islamic tradition holds that it fell from Heaven to show Adam and Eve where to build an altar. Although it has often been described as a meteorite, this hypothesis is now uncertain.
Muslim pilgrims circle the Kaaba as part of the Tawaf ritual of the Hajj. Many of them try, if possible, to stop and kiss the Black Stone, emulating the kiss that Islamic tradition records that it received from Muhammad. If they cannot reach it, they point to it on each of their seven circuits around the Kaaba.Ritual role
The Black Stone plays an important role in the central ritual of the Hajj, when pilgrims must walk seven times around the Kaaba in an counterclockwise direction. They attempt to kiss the Black Stone seven times, once for each circumambulation of the Kaaba, emulating the actions of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. In modern times, large crowds make it practically impossible for everyone to kiss the stone, so it is currently acceptable for pilgrims to simply point in the direction of the Stone on each of their circuits around the building. Some even say that the Stone is best considered simply as a marker, useful in keeping count of the ritual circumambulations (tawaf) that one has performed. Its black colour is deemed to symbolize the essential spiritual virtue of detachment and poverty for God (faqr) and the extinction of ego required to progress towards God (qalb).

we do not worship the black stone nor to to we worship kabah , they symbolic, the kabah according to tradition was built by Adam at the site dirctly below where it is beleive the throne of Allah resides, , rebuilt by Abraham and again withered down and rebuilt by the arabs so n essence its a marker towards gods throne, with the black stone is a stone that is a part of heaven not to be worshipped but treated with respect, the act of touching it is like touching a piece of heaven
please do a little research before making assumption, you may not believe any of the above but get the facts.
we respect women and its expressively stated that women have to be respected and have as much rights as men (if not more), there are certain rules in place for both men and women and extremist twist the rules to their needs and this is what the world sees and assumes to be the truth
Unfortunately when it comes to Islam all the world sees is the crazy ones that interpret sharia totally incorrect.
BTW none of us want the pyramids gone

Religion does not tolerate different views.By 1616 the attacks on the ideas of Copernicus had reached a head, and Galileo went to Rome to try to persuade the Catholic Church authorities not to ban Copernicus' ideas. In the end, a decree of the Congregation of the Index was issued, declaring that the ideas that the Sun stood still and that the Earth moved were "false" and "altogether contrary to Holy Scripture", and suspending Copernicus's De Revolutionibus until it could be corrected. Acting on instructions from the Pope before the decree was issued, Cardinal Bellarmine informed Galileo that it was forthcoming, that the ideas it condemned could not be "defended or held", and ordered him to abandon them. Galileo promised to obey. Bellarmine's instruction did not prohibit Galileo from discussing heliocentrism as a mathematical fiction but was dangerously ambiguous as to whether he could treat it as a physical possibility.[53] For the next several years Galileo stayed well away from the controversy. He revived his project of writing a book on the subject, encouraged by the election of Cardinal Maffeo Barberini as Pope Urban VIII in 1623. Barberini was a friend and admirer of Galileo, and had opposed the condemnation of Galileo in 1616. The book, Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, was published in 1632, with formal authorization from the Inquisition and papal permission.

the catholic church (or at leasts its ruling clergy) at the time did not tolerate different views, the religion its self did not disagree with Copernicus i.e the bible never stated the earth was the centre of the universe the clergy made the assumption and put it into rule

One man's relic/symbol is another mans idol the difference is the side you view it from. Can you imagine what will happen of someone destroye the "symbol"?
Sure, like you don't treat women as property? Arranged marriages, separation, Hijab and other attire. Blaming a women clothing if she gets raped instead of the man tells me you do not see both sexes as equal. So do not come to me with that BS.

arranged marriages is tradition not religion, a marriage can be arranged as in 2 families hook up their kids but the women have the say whom she marries women being forced which is totally against Sharia - not saying it doesn't happen have seen it doesn't make it right and its not according to Islamic law
Same with full hijaab its a choice, the proper clothing for both men and women should be modes.
Blaming rape on women's clothing is first of all wrong (no mater what religion you from) the crime is 100% on the monster that did it and dont assume that Muslims make this assumption, yes some do but so do some men of other religion - its got nothing to do with religion.
not sure what you mean, we not worshipping the actual kahbah or its contents.
maybe this discussion should move to this Thread
