I was wondering, could you please clarify what Mweb means by:

What is defined as a prolonged transfer? And do you loot at all data usage (steaming, http, vpn, torrents, etc, or is it prolonged transfer on a specific protocol or connection?
Also wanted to know, does prolonged transfers mean a session? as this was brought on on the Mweb Q&A forum
Also, what do you mean by bypassing your shaper, i spoke to a Mweb Technical consultant and he said this was the manipulation or your cap/adsl line to receive higher speed than you are suppose to.
Just to make sure warnings are avoided
    Hi Lazy.Me

    Extract from our AUP:

    • You may not restrict, inhibit or interfere with the ability of any person to access, use or enjoy the Internet or the any services, or create an unusually large burden on our network, including, without limitation, continuously uploading or downloading streaming video or audio; continuous FTP uploading or downloading, or otherwise generating levels of traffic sufficient to impede others' ability to send or retrieve information, or to use the services in an abusive manner in connection with any unlimited packages, options or promotions.

Regarding Bypassing the shaping, it can be in the form of using SSL.

I'll advise that you read through our AUP found under our T&C's you agreed upon.

I read the AUP, and the biggest issue (for me at least) is there are no specifics listed, which means there is no way of actively managing the usage. As the person who's account was cancelled stated, his usage was not nearly as high as some of the other Mweb users, so it then indicated his cancellation was due to his "usage pattern", the only way usage patterns can be managed is to know what criteria they are being compared to.

For example, would downloading at 400KB/s for 5 days constant, then not downloading any content for 3 days, a total of 173 odd gigs, be considered abuse, and would downloading constantly at 250KB/s for 8 days, also resulting in a total download of about 173 gigs, be considered abuse?
Should you rather then download at full speed for 8 hours a day?

I am trying to establish some kind of guideline since at the moment it seems Mweb will warn/cancel accounts in a bais fashion

You are even lucky they sent you an email.I was with them for two years but one day they just cancelled my account ,no email,no phone call ,nada. My line just went dead and i only found out when i called them.I was pretty mad that they had no decency to contact me and let me know what was going on.

In Kuala Lumpur ,vassetidatatech.com offers 1000mbps uncapped fiber to the home internet connection for a mere R523 per month. We are being ripped off with all these so called uncapped adsl in SA which offers ridiculous speeds at outrageous prices and treat their customer like crap.I think we should organize a consumer strike, boycott these ISPs for a month so they can get their act together. If i were to be fair ,i will refer to this uncapped accounts as 200GB capped accounts because there is nothing uncapped about them.

Default MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

    @MWEB Guy
Since 30 July I have not been able to get ANY SIP calls working.
    Symptoms are as follows:
Can successfully register with MWeb SIP server, but when making a call get error 500 - Internal Server Error

originally thought it was related to Asterisk host at home, eliminated that by stopping the server and directly registering client via home LAN-Router-ADSL-MWeb, but exact same problem
Then eliminated home LAN and firewall by using 3g connection directly from iPhone (Bria client) to MWeb, results exactly the same.
Then tried to dial my 087701xxxx number from landline with iPhone still registered to MWeb, result "number does not exist"

Thought it might be related to my credit limit having been reached (month end???), checked that but was told also not cause.

    What now??

    Hey,

Is there any way to find out that my ADSL line upgrade request is being processed? I'm not sure that they have already received my filled in ADSL line speed form (printed and faxed).
