That explains why William Simpson has a special on the petrol X-trail @ R265,000
    http://www.williamsimpson.co.za/special-offers/

    An McCarthy the diesel X-trail @ R296,000

These are for brand new ones, not demos or 2nd hand

to add to the dilema I was considering the Ford Kuga but the top spec model was over R400K, I see its on special now for R364,900.00 for the Titanium model. That a drop of over R40K and makes it a serious contender for me.

Opinions of the Kuga? Also taking into account the price which puts in on par with top speced Kia sportage or Hyundai ix

Kuga was rated as one of the best in class. I would take it over the KIA and Hyundai.
Soos 'n choppie op die vuur.

If I could afford it I would go for the Kuga.

I am currently driving a new shape 1.6 titanium fiesta, it is really awesome car and if the kuga is anything close to that it would be awesome

I did hear that the Kuga is heavy on fuel, but not sure if this is really true as people's idea of heavy on fuel varies from person to person.

The kuga is a great suv but is being replaced by a new model early next year hence the big discounts... It has a 2.5lt still engine so it's very powerful but very very thirsty.. Check out standard banks website.. They have a vehicle purchasing unit which gets good deals for us consumers.. Worst case is that u use their quote to get better deals with dealers.. Email vpu@standardbank.co.za or see website.. Later ppl.. I can't wait for the new crv to land :-)

We were a dumping ground for the current Kuga. The new one's on the horizon, hence the enticing pricing. I'd still go year-old Tiguan.

I have decided to hang on a bit and save up before final decision, the ones over that R 300,000 mark seems a better buy and then also the newer models coming out the end of year.... also thinking diesel in this class might be better option due to the extra power available and hopefully lower fuel consumption.

The ones I am really interested in is:
Toyota Fortuner - really like the size and height of this however the theft thing is bugging me a bit.
Mazda CX5 - like the feel of it and coming from Ford I love the service the dealer gave me and the deals, however it is shame it only comes in petrol.
VW Tiguan - its more refined and also had a citi golf so use to the brand and the 5 year maintenance plan as standard is very nice
Nissan X-trail - also the size, it has some nice features as standard.

I have not been impressed with the service / attitude of the Hyundai or Kia dealers and even thou it might be a good car I am not going to spend the next 5 years dealing with those people.

    Jinx10 what did you decide?

I have chosen the Kia Sportage AWD diesel. Im on the waiting list at a few dealers. Im not in a rush so thats not a problem.

I agree from what ive read there are quite a few new models coming out so waiting not a bad idea.

I am glad you found something that you like, because at the end of the day it is you that have to drive it every day

If the dealers in CT was not so horrible I would have looked at the Sportage as it is a really nice looking car and have all the features, no idea how they drive as I could not get anybody willing to arrange a test drive....but the reviews are very good. There is a guy on YouTube, Bob, that test drove it an absolutely loved it. He is an Irish but I like his reviews as he has the cars for a week before making a review and also he has a sense of humour most reviewers miss.

Cannot fault you on that, blue is a lovely colour and it's the inside of the car we see the most

If people all thought the same, the world would be a very boring place

    No I know

It's just that I get really concerned where people will choose something like the colour of the interior over supeior engineering....but that's me, and I've said it all before!
