Thread: Should I print this and mail it to the traffic department?

I lived in Gauteng up until about 2 months ago where it is common practice to drive without plates. I absolutely believe that you should report it (based on what I saw happen there).

IMHO a car should be declared unroadworthy and taken off the road if it doesn't have plates.

No person should be presented the opportunity to commit crime and get away with it without repercussion. It starts with speeding and escalates to driving over red robots and killing pedestrians.

Allowing citizens to govern themselves just doesn't work, everyone knows it.

For the nay-sayers: If one of your family members were killed by a driver without plates you would change your tune in a second. And you don't need to be a pedestrian to be killed that way. Speeders have much higher chances of surviving an accident than the vehicle they collided with.

Protecting and policing is the responsibility of every citizen. If you stand idly by while criminals take advantage of others then you are an incredibly low human, silently condoning their behaviour. Why should anyone help you if your family is in danger?

That is the problem with SA, people have lost self respect even flaming someone for doing the right thing. WTF.

Seems like either my ranting and raving paid off (unlikely) or that the dude just eventually got round to buying himself a new plate, saw it on his dashboard Monday afternoon.

Now when it will be fitted I cannot say - have not seen the car since but at least we are making some progress here

Before they started hitting you hard for fines, it was 200 bucks without plates, i drove my car for about a year and half with no numbers plates. Pull over about 6 times. I i used to do 180 on highays and drive really fast and i never got a single fine apart from when they pull me over.

I was pulled on the high way doing 170 or so and still got away with 400 bucks . Now it's a steep. 1k or something like that but it was a year and half of flat out no worries.

Roux you are being a little bitch. Worry about your own life and stop that tattle tale BS that everyone dislikes. i had an issue with mate who kept threatening to do it but he would then drive home drunk, so i said you nail me i will get you nailed for a drunken charge. He never mentioned it again

Personally I think freeway speeding laws are stupid when its intercity. IT would be so much better if there werent any, people will learn the right lane is not for your slow ass and there would be such a better distribution of money for the smaller towns. Think about it, if the N3 had no speed limit outside the main cities, you think a wealthy fellow is going to fly from JHB to DBN, hell no take his AMG/ferrari for a spin. He will have to fill petrol and stuff so the stations on the way get more business, some people might decide to stop for lunch in a small town. Economy is distributed a little bit better, instead of buying things in JHB then flying to DBN and money is spent in DBN

lol I had a point to this post for this thread I forgot now

    i know someone with a
    m3 that did that

    270km/h
if a speed camara cought him then ,i dont want to know

Dude, I was in court once (and only once) for doing 136 in a 60 zone. Ford Bantam 1600i, 8-valve, SA spec. It had valid number plates back and front and I paid my R2k fine because I was wrong and reckless.

    2min diff between them (time)

you not allowed to go more than 160Kph, yes they take the plates and discs out to kill it on the freeway. Again it depends on which province you in for the traffic penalties
