Default 3G Wireless Router + Range Extender

Please help me with the following.

    1. Internet source must come from TP-Link MR3020

Question is very simple but from all my reading it seems this can be very tricky.

EDIT: Forgot to mention. All connections must be wireless, thus no lan cable between 3G router and Range extender.

Q1. The person that needs this setup lives in quite a big and old (solid) double story house. Best 3G signal is on the top level on the "Left-side" of the house.

All we want to do is put the TP-Link WA730RE in the middle of the house (top level) so that it is extended from there.

Reading the instruction on the Range Extender this seems like a VERY easy task to accomplish, am I being fooled here?

I've got a MR3020 myself, the Router does have WDS in its settings and also a little AP, WISP and 3G switch.

Q2. Could this be done with a normal Wireless Access Point or is the Range extender the way to go?

Holding in a button for 5secs simply seems to easy!!

Q3. Would you suggest something else?

    Thanks in advance!

Range extenders are fairly easy to setup (well at least the TP-LINK ones are) but it wont work if you're running security on the wireless stack so you'd have to disable the security and then look at running MAC authentication which isnt ideal.

The other option is to run a cat 5 cable between the MR3020 and another access point in the room where you want coverage, this would be the best option in terms of cost and performance. If running an ethernet cable isnt an option then maybe look at installing powerline adapters with a Wireless Router or take the powerline adapter with integrated wireless.

Another point is that the MR3020 has an integrated antenna so the wireless range isnt great, you may find that the MR3420 which has two external antenna's will cover the entire area required.
