Thread: What's your favorite brand of running shoe?

  1. #1

Question What's your favorite brand of running shoe?

When I started running I bought a pair of New Balance 400s what I quickly wore out, then I tried out Nike Pegasus and I can honestly say it is my favorite running shoes. Currently I have a pair of Nike Pegasus 28s (2011), Asics Gel Nimbus 13s (2011) and the newly released Nike Pegasus 29s (got it yesterday).

I am hoping the 29 last longer than the 28 did because I found their support wore off after I reached 800km while the Asics Nimbus is still fine after 1200km.

Would be good to hear what other brands are worth while since I might be buying another pair of running shoes before summer.

Nike Pegasus by far the best, of all the ones I had.

I was with Asics before and won a pair of Inov-8 in a competition , didnt think much of the shoes back then , Now very impressed with them ..extremely durable and comfortable ..i have had no problems what so ever - so for me personally Inov-8 works for me.

What Asics are they? The Nimbus has to be the most I have ever spent on a shoe, they go for R1500. Cumulus is a bit cheaper I think but still big bucks. Great shoes and ultra durable.

4 years ago i bought Asics Nimbus for R1000.

I still wear it. The best shoes I've ever bought.

The front foot cushioning was about 25% (guesstimate) better than anything else I tried on ... and I did try almost everything.

I run fast, so a lot of impact is on my front foot or the whole of my foot.

Asics' gel pockets really work well.

I never strike with heel first for which Nike is the best shoe then.

Yeah, I'm not getting rid of my Nimbus anytime soon, they handle mileage a lot better than air cushioned Nikes do. That being said I took the new Pegasus out for a jog today, did a quick 6k and it was so smooth - I love them. Pity they tend to flake out before they get to 1000km.

For road running I have had a pair of Asics for about 7 years and they still look pretty good, even after some hectic races through rivers, sea sand and rocks. Don't really do that much road running any more (hate traffic and fumes etc) but my next pair will be Asics again.

For proper trails running, cycling and climbing you do not get any better than 510.

Adidas. Comfortable, light and beautiful. Nikes always feels like more fashion and less exercise-orientated to me, even their cross-trainers. And als when I was doing athletics, my Adidas javelin boots lasted ages, my Nike's only 3 meets or so(both pairs I had before getting the Adidas). In fact, my Adidas is still alive!

Sorry for the slight necro.. anyone tried the Asics Pulse 3? I have started getting shin splints with my current pair.

Also I run on very bad roads, would a trail shoe like a Merrell be any better?
