Thread: What is the best contract pricing for an Iphone 4S at the moment?

Default What is the best contract pricing for an Iphone 4S at the moment?

Hi. I am currently with MTN and can upgrade from my Blackberry.

I love me my cheap bills (no data bills, free BBM) with the BB and am not sure what kind of monthly bill I would be looking at if I upgraded to an Iphone.

I went around to some stores and got the following prices:

    MTN
    16GB R479x24 on MTN Anytime 200 (incl 250MB bundle) (Yellow magazine, 16-21 July 2012)

    Vodacom
16GB R49x24 + Iphone 120 package (pm rate unknown atm) per the latest list on this forum.
16GB R44x24 + Iphone 240 package (pm rate unknown atm) per the latest list on this forum.
16GB R0 pm + Iphone 500 package (pm rate unknown atm) per the latest list on this forum.

    Cell C
16GB R329x24 on Straight Up 50 with additional 300MB data (in store list, valid 15 to 31 July 2012)
16GB R479x24 on Straight Up 200 with additional 300MB data (in store list, valid 15 to 31 July 2012)
16GB R679x24 on Straight Up 400 with additional 300MB data (in store list, valid 15 to 31 July 2012)

Looking at the above if I compare the R479 pm pricing Cell C trumps MTN with double the amount of data (Cell C Straight Up 200 includes 200MB) and also the SMS's will be more than MTN's. I believe they both trump Vodacom's pricing but I don't have all the info yet and will update this post soon.

If anyone knows of a better deal please post here.
One option might be to buy the phone outright and shop around for the best voice/data plan but again i'll have to check on that.

Cell C seem to be the best there. You can get it on Vodacom business call, for R289 p/m, with nothing but 100mb per month, then use another provider for your data & calls like Cell C. I think this may void your warranty though, but it's the cheapest way to get an iPhone 4S.

Might as well buy it new if you're gonna pay in that much!

Hold the phones, If you are a loyal Vodacom customer don't jump ship just yet, I just found the Iphone on the new Smart Plans not as rediculous as the previous available contract pricing.

Those prices still don't come close to the CellC ones.
    1. Not anytime minutes, only offpeak
    2. Much, much less data.

Those are deal breakers for me.
