    Default Upgrade of contract vs. a new one? (VC)

    Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section...I just need some clarity on a issue I am having with Vodacom.

    I have been due for an upgrade since May but I have been putting it off since I could not find any lekker deals that caught my eye. In the July monthly booklet I saw the Galaxy Ace for R135 p/m, which is a off-peak contract - 120 off-peak minutes and 100mb data per month. I am currently on a TopUp 75 package, so I asked how much it would cost to upgrade to the one with the Galaxy Ace. The lady at the VC store said that the upgrade fee and some other fee would amount to R500 once-off, and I wouldn't be able to get the 100mb data per month either.

    This effectively means that if I had to cancel my current contract and get a new one, I would be getting a better deal as I would only be paying the once-off connection fee and I would get the data as part of the package.

    Anyone care to explain how this works?

    Sounds dodge, what's the R500 for? if you have to pay for it on upgrade chances are you have to pay for it on a new contract. maybe check with OC, Im guessing the rep you spoke to is either not giving you full details or missing a few screws -
    Some times the internet is so slow, it would be faster to just fly to Google's headquarters and ask them this $h1t in person.!

    Apparently the R500 is the R150-odd upgrade fee and a R350 pay-in on the Ace. Why I must pay in when I am upgrading to a 'bigger' contract and then expect less value for money is beyond me...seems like less hassle to cancel my current one and take out a new one?

    Hello. These are the two deals for the respective packages that you mentioned.

    SAMSUNG S5830 GALAXY ACE @ R 1729 CASH ON TOP UP 75s
    SAMSUNG S5830 GALAXY ACE + 100 MB DATA PM X 24 FREE ON EVERYDAY OFF-PEAK 120 (PER MINUTE BILLING)

    Both deals are for both upgrades and new lines. R150.00 once off admin fee applies in store. If you take the everyday off peak 120 deal, no other fee should apply unless you purchase something else like a new sim or accesory.

    What would the easiest way be to convince the outlet that I should not pay that extra R350 and that I should in fact get the 100mb per month as well? I am really keen on the deal and I would be bummed out if they gooi me a toffie when I go back there again.

    ask for what ever pases for their manager or go to another outlet / try vodacom direct or vist OC in centurion
