Chrome on Fedora performance issues

I was wondering if anybody else is having issues with Chrome lately on Fedora or linux in general.

Chrome used to be super zippy, but now it seems to have a very annoying lag that happens every few seconds. This is mainly only noticeable in Youtube and due to this lag it's impossible to watch any video smoothly. When I run Youtube in Firefox it works fine.

I know that Chrome uses its own built-in flash support, so I am now using the html5 trial on YouTube which fixes the problem for the most part but not all videos work with html5 yet.

This is the main issue, but I have noticed a general slow down when closing tabs and sometimes even typing gets stuck for a while so it can't only be flash.

I'm using Fedora 17 64 bit with onboard Intel graphics and using Chrome Version 20.0.1132.57.

Any suggestions on how I could fix this? I have tried clearing my cache which is suggested on some sites for this issue on OS X, but it didn't help at all.

yeah, I switched back to firefox. Chrome has had some major stability issues for me on Ubuntu recently. It constantly freezes up and if left to its own devices chews up system resources quicker than you can do a ps | grep | kill

How about Chromium instead of Chrome? I could not get my Chrome install's flash to work. Kept on getting a Flash plug in out of data error...and for the life of me could not get it to update. Chrome said I must update from Adobe site and Adobe said, no, Chrome has got it built in. I installed Chromium in viola! :-)

I've been having some issues on Fedora 64bit as well. In fact, I didn't even bother trying to correct them - I just switched back to Firefox. One day when I have a free moment, and I still have issues with it, I'll look around. But right now, its a bum... In fact, it throws an "Aw Snap" on almost every site I visit - and thats with a new fresh install, new profile, and no extensions/add-ons loaded.

Thanks, think I'm going to give that a try. I'm going insane now - this lag is absurd.

Okay. Running in Chromium now. Much faster.

I have no idea what was causing the lag in Chrome so I'll just stick with Chromium for now.
