Thread: 8ta 10 gb bundle to ADSL Uncapped

  1. #1

Default 8ta 10 gb bundle to ADSL Uncapped

How do i go about upgrading my hsdpa contract to an ADSL line.
About 6 months or so ago i signed a contract for the 10 gb promo
which is awesome... i just realized that i need more now, i just cant afford
to pay 500bucks for another 5 gigs.

I have asked the 8ta staff members that hang around in the shops
but nobody has been able to help me.
I desperately need and want uncapped, so is it possible to make the
change from the 10 gb promo to ADSL??

Sorry if my question lacks clarity... i should be getting ready for work now :P

Dave, the last time I checked you could increase the 10gb to 20gb for R100 more.

That 10GB's would be night-owl data then Dave.

Can I add 10GB Night Surfer anytime during my 24 month Internet 5 Promo contractual period?
A: Yes. The 10GB Night Surfer can be added or removed anytime during the 24 month Internet 5 Promo contract.

Can I use my Internet 5 Promo Data Bundle at any time of the day?
A: Yes. The Internet 5 Promo Data Bundle can be used anytime. However, if a customer has purchased the 10 GB Night Surfer as an add-on to Internet 5 Promo, usage will be as follows:
    Internet 5 Promo: Anytime of the day except between 11pm – 5am / 10 GB Night Surfer: Between 11pm – 5am only

What is the price for the once-off internet data bundles?

    Once-off internet 100MB: R 50.00 / Once-off internet 250MB: R100.00
    Once-off internet 500MB: R150.00 / Once-off internet 1GB: R250.00

I'm sure you can cancel the 8ta contract for a minimal admin fee. I don't think you can actually migrate between 8ta and adsl.

    That's correct. You cannot migrate.
The theoretical capacity of a Boeing 747 filled with Blu-ray Discs is 595,520,000 Gigabytes, resulting in a 245,829 Gbit/s flight from New York to Los Angeles.

HI ...once the 10gb data is up does it carry on without your knowledge or do you need to add a top up to that to surf more

You get a web page giving you various options. You can top up, you can go OOB at x cents/meg or you can be throttled if I remember right

cause just reading that voda thread bill for 20k and realised my SO's one is the 10gig but since we used it on like 3 pcs we dont have a correct reading of data used and dont want to go over and end up with a major bill ...

so if it cuts off and asks us to top up il be happy with that

Mine stops when I have 1MB left, it was like this by default, but there is an option to enable OOB surfing on the self-service login.

Thanks for the great response guys.
When i run out of cap i normally receive a message stating that my internet has been paused
and that i need to get more cap. To be honest im scared to ask about the cancellation fee because
i have a feeling its going to be some ridiculous amount of money.

Im going to have to find an 8ta store and speak to some one there so that i can be 100% certain.

    Hi there

    As per our Billing Sticky:

    6. Contract cancellations (cancellation fees and Ts & Cs apply)

    Documentation required:

Letter with summary of cancellation reason(s) required including account holder’s signature
    Copy of Account holder’s ID/passport

    Additional information required:

    Name and surname
    Alternate contact number
    Email address
    8ta number to be cancelled
    8ta Account Number

    Send above information to:

Email: social@8ta.com with subject line: MyBB <username> cancellation request
    An 8ta/Telkom store
You will receive a quote for cancellation through this process. Due to the fact that no device is included in the 10GB promo deal, the only pay in is the administration fees which will not be ridiculous.

@Sinbad - throttled usage is not an option on the 10GB promo.

Migration is definitely not an option from 8ta to Telkom ADSL.

    Regards,
    Social Media Team

Perhaps the best solution would be to get an additional 10GB contract for R199, then you'll have 20GB for R 398/m
