Thread: Cheaper MS Office?

  1. #1

    Question Cheaper MS Office?

    Hey guys and girls.

I'm buying a new pc and will be needing MS Office. I can buy it with the PC for R899 (student edition).

Is this a good price or can i get it somewhere else cheaper? I dont mind a older version of Office as all i need is Word and Excel. Very basic stuff.

Also, while I'm here, do you think a Windows Upgrade from Home Basic to Home Premium is worth it? I will have network with 2 pc's only.

Home to premium is worth it.

If you only need word and excel why not just download Openoffice for free?

I've tried Openoffice and to be honest I did not like it. I'd much rather just pay for MS Office.

Thanx for the tip on the Premium. Will defenitly do that.

Any thoughts anybody where I can get Office as cheap as possible?

First check if your PC does not already come with Office Starter installed - came with the last 3 laptops I bought (sometimes you need to search for it on a new install)

See what you mean about Open Office, it just doesn't look as slick! You could try Kingsoft? Their software is basically identical and they offer a free Office suite with all the essentials- powerpoint etc.

If you are a student some universities offer Office Pro for about R230. I picked up a copy last year. Contact your IT department.
