Well worth it in the long run. I cannot ride by a stray without doing something. Picked up two of my dogs like that. The one husky was roaming the freeway and had billary - cost R10k to get him sorted and he was the best dog on the face of this planet until late last year when he passed away. At one stage I had 8 dogs - luckily I had a decent sized property...

Contact African Tails. They are very good at using Facebook to get the word out. I know they are based in Cape Town, but I am sure they've put up notices for missing pets in other provinces. Wouldn't hurt to find out.

Me and animals, its the main reason I can't go to the SPCA... getting my little mongrel was torture for me, I would have taken home every single one of the animals they had if I could have... but this couldn't be left at a place like that, nobody understands the breed and he would very likely have been put down because nobody would have taken him :

Folks, I know this is a long, long shot... but the wife came home to this lil' chap huddled against our gate last night:



He stands about 30cm tall at the shoulder and I reckon he's somewhere between 18 months and 2 years old.

He was hit by a car, likely in 9th Avenue. His left front leg's broken but he's at the vet being seen to at the moment. Now I know he's just a pavement special but, in spite of probably being in agony, he was as content as could be expected during the night, and he seems well fed & healthy. Someone, somewhere probably cares a great deal for him.

If you hear of anyone in the area having lost a dog matching this one in the last few days, please drop me a PM.

Well done. You have all my respect. I do not know if I would have been able to do it, the SPCA solutions are normally just to damn easy. I now took on two lovable female kitty's and I shudder at the idea what the sterilizing will cost.
