Govt incompetence 'sank' Sanyati
South Africa announced in February a nine-year, 3.2-trillion-rand plan to upgrade the nation's infrastructure to shore up economic growth
Someone is lying with the Sanyati story? While both sides of the coin have blamed each other it would not surprise me if Lobban's story is the one closer to the truth.
No wonder the cash flow in this country is a big problem as the entity that holds all the cards, the Government, is incompetent in simply paying the Companies for work received."Allegations that our work was shoddy are completely unfounded. It is corruption and incompetence, and if I had to choose one over the other, I would say corruption," Lobban told Business Day.
It is sad to see Sanyati going to the wall, other smaller construction firms must also be feeling the pinch. With the supposed infrastructural upgrade money in place, one would expect these Companies to be booming, not folding.
A really sorry state of affairs, I feel like a moaning Mother Grundy and I don't expect any of the officials that are involved will either care or be concerned about the country's future and productivity, or that people are losing jobs as a result of their incompetence and/or corruption.
