i drive a tank (85 opel kadett) and even though im relatively safe, i never ever drive without seat belts because accidents can happen even if you are at a local resort or on your way there and you do get random metro and they will fine you no matter day or night.
Don't let me come play de la rey in front of your house and do donuts !

Don't lull yourself into a false sense of security; in new car vs old car, new car will win. Your almost 30-year old car will do one of two things in an accident, either 1) fall to pieces, transferring much of energy to your squishy self, or 2) react like it's made of cast iron, transferring much of the energy to your squishy self. You are more vulnerable than the cute girl in the Yaris next to you, not safer. Drive carefully.

Kudos on always buckling up though.

i'll usually be driving just down the road and realise for a moment i didn't have my seatbelt on at which time i put it on, just so you know, but of course you can't see it like that can you?

No, your argument has been refuted by, well, everyone. Stop trying to turn this into something it isn't now with your childish antics...

I never said i would not seatbelt my kids or use a car seat for that matter, but as usual you have a vendetta, so you have to be an a-hole...

So what on earth is your argument, because your inconsistent babble is getting tough to make out now?

Now peder stop being such a coward. If you have a problem with anything I've posted here in this thread then quote it and respond to it. No need for private messages accusing me of being all and sundry things under the sun. Grow up, little man...

the reason i call it a "tank"

some narl with his plastic yaris did infact bump my moms 2L kadett a long time ago, leaving her with a small dent on the boot and his nose completely strewn across the street and nothing left over of the front.

    lolz

but ya, no car is actually "safe" ..... ok maybe a monster truck... to some extent

At low speed the older cars will take significantly less damage but at high speed, you actually want your car to come apart as that loses energy. With the tanks, your body is the weakest bit in the system and will attempt to absorb a relatively large amount of energy. That's bad because that's what breaks you.
