Syrian defense minister killed in Damascus blast

BEIRUT (AP) — Syria's state-run TV says the country's defense minister has been killed in a suicide blast in the capital.
Wednesday's attack struck the National Security building in Damascus during a meeting of Cabinet ministers and senior security officials. State-run TV said some of the officials were seriously wounded and later reported the defense minister killed.
The capital has seen four straight days of clashes pitting government troops against rebels, who are trying to bring down the regime by force.
The fighting is an unprecedented challenge to government rule in President Bashar Assad's seat of power.

The news agency also cites a Facebook statement by Liwa Al-Islam, a Syrian rebel Islamist group, which has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Sounds like a terrorist attack to me. Well if we follow the guideline of a terrorist act. Bombing + islamist group = terror well normally anyhow but in this case i doubt it.

This is a pretty big statement from the rebels, there will be no peace and we will fight for freedom. The question though is if they are given freedom can they ensure there won't be fighting when assad is gone?

Wow this look like something i highly doubt rebels could organize. Insane assassination. Precision only something like the US or israel could get right. Please note i am not wanting to argue about them just pointing out these rebels don't seem capable of organizing something so precise.
