    Heeeey Pooky, Russian Bear is OK! I am trying some tonight and it is quite yumm. Very fruity, surprisingly... I was expecting cleaning fluid for some reason.

    Nononoononono... for the R80 a bottle... Russian Bear IS actually better than Smirnoff !! Really. It has a really fruity vodka taste and is very palatable chilled in the freezer, neat... there is nothing methylated spirits about it... very surprisingly yumm !

    No pooky rather find a way to upgrade your finance situation. With booze there is a limit to how shtty quality one can drink & you're pretty close to it.

    And just in case someone stupid is reading this thread, allow me to highlight that the post quoted below was a joke. Methylated spirits contain methanol, which makes you both drunk and blind. Proper booze contains ethanol, which makes you just drunk. And its not normally purple...they put colour in it to make it look less drinkable.

    Get a 5l red wine papsak, R80 - R100. Then mix with coke or pepsi, about 3/4 wine to 1/4 coke/pepsi. Enjoy

    I seem to remember cane(rum?) being pretty damn cheap, brandy is another ok option but vodka seems to be the cheapest these days.
