In Bryanston we have had dislocation for the past 2 months with lines being disconnected from time to time - I hope that is a good sign...........

So world class company? My @ss.

I know that these comparisons might not be fair etc etc due to living costs changing what what but for more than 1/2 the price you get 10x the speeds in the UK than here.....
How can you compare two companies in two different countries with different sets of infrastructure and legislation controlling telecomms deployment? That doesn't make sense no matter which country you live in. Quite frankly, I don't see the point.

Please see the part that says I know that these comparisons might not be fair. It was not meant as a realistic comparison, it was meant as a jab at how far behind our infrastructure is compared to the UK. It is by no means meant as an insult.

Yes, Afrihost is world-class because they offer the 10Mb line and uncapped account as a bundle for R897 in spite of Telkom's high prices. Yes it may be more expensive than the UK, but I prefer South African weather and Afrihost service.

    Biltong FTW!!!

The world class company was meant for Telkom. See the post above my original

EDIT: I fixed my original post to include the quote for telkom.

That is the part which bothers me. Anyone is welcome to compare apples to oranges to ferraris. But please be fair if you are going to throw around the @ss label.

Anyway, use it, don't use it - that's my rant for the day

EDIT: Just saw you have edited your post now! Let's leave it there

That is my opinion of Telkom Not of Afrihost, I host with you and I'm very pleased with it.
I've been screwed over by Telkom too many times, so in my mind its a fair statement

What grinds me a little is the fact that the drop off in speed between local and international is so big.Tested 3 different accounts with similar results using the MyBB speedtest (Afrihost capped, Afrihost uncapped and Openweb unshaped). My line synchs at 8MB - I get full line speed on local speedtests and usenet traffic - on international I'm lucky if I get 3.5MB. Makes it difficult for decent quality streaming video from international sites.

Only comment of value so far! For the rest of you, Telkom have a good plan and have done great work on their infrastructure, if only they could have not wasted so much money on silly investments that have handicapped their ability to deliver their core products... MSANs and NGN FTW. Now if ICASA can get their asses in gear we will be rocking!

Any idea how short term speed upgrade plans are progressing? And indications of how the upgrade will proceed?
I know it's a long shot, but maybe MyBB can try squeeze blood out of a stone (AKA get some info out of Telkom)?
