    Default Game store question?

    Hi guys,

I wouldn't mind some advice please for anyone who has been in my situation before.

Last friday, a friend bought a phone for me from Game at the brooklyn mall in Pretoria. Unfortunately I didn't like this phone, but I however opened the box, just to check if all the contents were there.

On monday, I took it back to Game at the brooklyn mall, and asked if I could get a refund of some sort, to which I was told that they cannot take it back.

Is this the policy of game, or am I being taken for a ride?

Not sure what to do, so I decided to ask for some help.

    Thanks in advance,

    to the mods,
If you feel this thread is in the wrong place please would you move it for me? my appoligies if I have posted in the wrong place.

True, no shop will take it back.

You could try the CPA route if they are difficult. I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to return phones. Why can you return almost anything else but not phones?

So you returned it because you don't like it, after opening it? Are you willing to pay the restocking fee?

    Hello,
Thanks for the replies thus far.

@Wyzak, yep good question! I wondered that myself.

    @B.O.F.H: cellphone.

@xrapidx: yes I am willing to pay the restocking fee.
It's amazing that the people at game are allowed to open phones and the customer must be fine with that but if we do it just to check then all is wrong?

@abzo: yes you read correctly. What is so wrong with opening it just to check?

@efitol: I wouldn't liked to be told (assuming I could have returned it) that things were missing from the box which is why I opened it to make sure all the contents were there.

    regards,

CPA does not cover buyers remorse.

    ,

Slightly aside - when the SO got her first iPhone the store also opened it. They don't do a thing with it - esp an iPhone, you needed to connect it to iTunes to activate it. Anyhow, the store person dropped the phone when she took it out the box. SO said no thanks, give me a new one.
