    One of the custom linux/bsds with firewall & proxy designed specifically for this task. You could also add something like dansgaurdian to it.

    Have IE as the default browser, it can't correctly render most sites anyway.

    Problem = solved.

    I've used it a couple of times. Easy as hell to setup, bliss to manage. The only time I had issues was when using a second NIC, got a bit sticky sometimes to install certain Netgear cards. Most others were fine right from the start though. Dlink, 3Com etc. were detected and installed right away.
