Elimentals, with my always present Note as wi-fi hotspot away from home and office I can't see why this tablet cannot function as a full tablet. I will get one for sure. I'm used to 7" (SGT 7" Plus) and prefer it for mobile use.

There is work around for everything, even using HTC's Media link to overcome the lack of peripherals. It does not change the fact that Google wanted to make a device that do not directly compete against other OEM's

Let me ask you this, (if they wanted to they could have made a full tab with SD, USB and 3G and sell it at cost) do you think the other OEM's who already scraping the bottom looking at current profit margins will continue to try and outdo each other if the "main Oke" sells something at cost?
.... and thanks for all the fish.

The other OEM's are in a tight spot now anyway. How much will the consumer now be willing to pay for a 7" offering with the few missing bits added? Still the R7000 Samsung wants for their 7" tablet? Nope. Game has changed and OEM's will have to trim prices or do something very different. I'm glad Google did this. I have often mentioned how Android OEM's rip us off by hovering around Apple iPad prices when they can come in much lower. Amazon showed the way.

I may get one of these as a gift for my sister - I am sure that it will be fine for her.

I just want to play on a 7" tablet first to make sure that I am comfortable with the size - I know for a fact that my Xperia S, which has a large screen (4.3 ?), is not suitable for stuff such as Pressreader.

Surely an online shop like nivo will start getting these? they will sell here

I'd buy one without thinking, don't see why the low GB is a problem for me, I don't store movies on a tablet? I don't get why people want so much space?

8 GB is more than enough for lots of apps, music, pictures, documents, what else do you want to store on tab?

I'm really not using my TF101's 32 Gigs

If anyone finds a ZA online store that starts selling these, please let us know. I'm really interested in getting one.

Sorry Elimentals I can't agree that the Nexus is intended for the e-reader class. It's a full fledged tablet, by far the best one you can get for the price. A friend of mine is looking at importing a few for himself and then possibly for us. But benchmark-wise it matches pretty much anything else in the Android space, makes a killer gaming device because it's Tegra. I'm quite infatuated with it.

And I can get by with 8gb no problems.

    +1
The size is comfy, and it works absolutely brilliantly...
Much snappier than my transformer infinity....granted it may be jellybean that makes it feel so.. But nonetheless I'm enjoying the tab...

Agreed. Hopefully I won't have to use one of these overpriced online retailers.
