    Default Stand alone cellphone insurance

    Howsit guys.

I have been trying for the last few weeks to find a company that will insure my cellphone as a stand alone service.

I know that it is the cheapest option to insure via house content as a specified item, but I am unable to go this route as my landlord is currently insuring the flat plus content, and he doesnt want me to add anything to his current insurance.

I saw that I can insure my phone direclty through Vodacom, is this my only option?

Get your own content insurance then you will have control over what is insured, very bad idea to hand over control of your content insurance to your landlord.

Really don't bother, it will be better to just get a new contract when your phone is stolen or broken. Prices for stand alone cellphone insurance are ridiculous. Auto and general does provide this, there is also an option on Hippo, but unless there is a good chance of your phone being stolen or broken more than once in the next year it's not worth the cost.

Just a follow up on this...

Auto and General no longer offer this service.
