Mede8er are releasing the 1000x3D next week in SA. Starting price is R3499, any thoughts on it? Seems a bit steep don't you think?

Does that price include a large hard drive? I doubt that there is much difference between the 1000X3D and any of the Egreat RTD1186 based players such as the R6S which you can purchase online (DX, ebay) for ~$80 including shipping. I see that they are avertising a gigabit ethernet port so it will be interesting to hear how this performs as I am under the impression that most, if not all, of the current RTD1186 players struggle to copy large files at speeds close to 100Mbps. They all advertise gigabit capability though.
As nice a unit it may be, that's a bit steep - I can build a really good microserver for much less than that.

Reliable ISP wanted
Have money
Will pay
For that money, I will buy a Popcornhour or Dune.
Surprisingly the 1000X3D is considerably cheaper in Europe than it is in SA (199 Euro in EU vs R3000 in SA). It's probably reasonable value for 199 Euro but not at the local price.
