There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

The mugshot of James Holmes, the suspect arrested in the Aurora, Colorado shooting (at The Dark Knight Rises premiere) that left 12 dead and 58 injured has just been released. James Holmes (24) also appeared in court today and looked dazed even disinterested, he will be formally charged on Monday. Holmes mug shot confirms the orange-red hair he was rumored to have as he attacked the theater. Here is the scary looking mug shot of James Holmes.
Holmes has been in solitary confinement at an Arapahoe County detention center since his arrest outside the theater after the shooting. Authorities working in the jail say that Holmes is maintaining his villainous “Joker” persona.
“Let’s just say he hasn’t shown any remorse,” a jail employee said. “He thinks he’s acting in a movie.”
“He was spitting at the door and spitting at the guards,” one inmate who has been released told The News. “He’s spitting at everything. Dude was acting crazy.”
Holmes had to be separated from the prison’s general population not only because of his own actions, but because of threats from other inmates.
“All the inmates were talking about killing him,” said Wayne Medley, 24, as he left the facility via the NY Daily News. “Everyone was looking for an opportunity. It’s all they could talk about.”
Another inmate, Dima Danilov, said that if Holmes had been allowed into the general population, “he won’t live to see Monday’s court appearance.”
Death may still be the final result of Holmes’ actions. Eighteenth Judicial District Attorney Carol Chambers said Monday that she is considering the death penalty against him. The decision will be made after consultation with the victims’ families.
More information on The Dark Knight Rises shooting will continue to pour in this week and we will continue to update you on the news. We will also be putting together a slide show of James Holmes court appearance in addition to the booking photo of Holmes above.
Apparently took 100mg of Vicodin before the shooting, and he had some more on him when arrested.

Can't find anything relating to this on any of the "big" news sites like CNN or CBS so maybe take it with a grain of salt for now.

But only twelve people died and 58 were injured in the massacre. How are they doubling up here? What's possibly going on here?CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) -- Colorado prosecutors have formally charged a former doctorate student with 24 counts of murder in the shooting at an Aurora movie theater. Twenty-four-year-old James Holmes appeared Monday and was also formally charged with 116 counts of attempted murder.
They are not doubling up, it is probably one charge of murder in the first degree and failing that another charge of murder in the second degree.
EDIT: OK, so I see they are all first degree murder charges....

but I still think they are charges in the alternate. In other words, they are pushing for one type of conviction, but if that fails, then the alternate would apply.
EDIT EDIT: OK, here it is....

Reuters reported the murder charges include 12 counts of first-degree murder and 12 counts of murder with extreme indifference for human life.

Thanks. I'd have though there'd be no alternative but the death penalty. He's either loopy, or a death penalty candidate...
It is astonishing, the breadth and depth of the human experience.
Here, I worry about hurting someone's feelings on the internet, and on the other hand, you have festering maniacs like this jackass who just mow down a bunch of innocent people, and cackle about it afterward.
