Thread: 8ta and gaming? Is it possible?

Default 8ta and gaming? Is it possible?

    Hi All

Been informed by Telkom that there are no ports available on my exchange to upgrade the line to ADSL... So, a few questions:

    1. How is gaming on the 8ta 3g (mostly internationally)?
    2. Will I need to buy a modem/router(?), or will the dongle suffice?
    3. Where can I check my area's coverage? (Newlands - Pretoria)

    Thanks!

    1. Pretty good for me, some nights the latency is bad, but most nights it works. And for me it's better than Vodacom. Not as good as ADSL but usable.
    2. Dongle is good, which one do you have?
    3. http://www.8ta.com/coverage/. Looks like you have coverage.

    1. works wonders WHEN IT WORKS > 230 - 250 - 280 pings on diablo 3.

    2. dongle will suffice, i use standard 8ta e173 (7mbps) - all my problems are network related at the moment, just waiting for a fix.

use 8ta's website to check for coverage but even if it shows your are in the zone, better to hook up your 3g phone and test it via that. R40 - 100mb data is more than enough to test downloads / pings / speedtests

Depends I guess. I can't play COD4 as I lag too much. I play LoL though and that's fine. I get 230ms ping on the EU servers
