Thread: LG HX906SX home theatre - should I keep it

Default LG HX906SX home theatre - should I keep it

I got my hands on this system today for 3,5K which is a fairly good price BUT......

it was an on-the-spot decision and the features indicated "External HDD Playback" and it was only when I got home that I realised it has no USB connectivity for an external HDD.
Anybody have one of these? Your feedback would be appreciated.

OK update: I posted before setting up the system - used the USB input but lose a lot of picture quality. Almost half the quality compared to playing directly on TV - but then I don't have the sound via Amp ( must still figure that part out) TV - LG LW4500

According to the LG page, does it not only support "External HDD Playback", but also "USB Direct Recording". Are you sure there is not USB port on it? More than that, I cannot tell you.

    It definitely does!
I've just installed one of these systems with a 51" Samsung 3D Full HD Plasma for some friends.

Pretty good little 3D system with good sound for the price.
Built-in WiFi is a nifty feature.

    From the manual:

Base122 you are right - I posted before setting up the system - used the USB input in front but lose a lot of picture quality. Almost half the quality compared to playing directly on TV - but then I don't have the sound via Amp ( must still figure that part out) TV - LG LW4500

For the audio from the TV to the HX906SX, you could use an optical cable if the TV has digital optical out?
Then set the HX906SX input to optical.

I am using the Audio Return Channel (ARC) feature on the HDMI output.
I've connected the HX906SX HDMI out, to the TV HDMI input which supports ARC.
I then set the HX906SX input to ARC and it plays the audio from the TV back on the sound system.

Haven't checked that while playing back something on the TV USB port yet though.
Will check that next time I go and "tweak" a few more settings.

Or of course, you could resort to using the TV RCA audio out to the HX906SX AUX (L/R) input
....no digital then, only downmixed stereo
