It disappeared months ago when the new iPad was released - it's now 50mb.

Anyhow - my phone doesn't have internet sharing.

I know, the 3G version uses a Krait CPU, and that's the one I want.
I'm just not sure what happens if I want to play all those "made for Tegra" games on it :/

Exactly. I already have WiFi at home, but I can't take it with me, so I will need to rely on some other internet connection

I don't want to have 2 devices getting their batteries drained when I'm away from a power source, just so I can browse the internet.

I consider long battery life and an Internet connection to be very important criteria for a mobile device, otherwise there's no point even calling it mobile.

I actually spoiled myself and bought an Asus TF700T with keyboard for home & serious travel (mostly international), and a Samsung 7.7" P6800 3G for light travel and running around town (also sitting in queues at Government Depts).

    Pretty much covers all situations.

Downside is that I now cannot justify buying the latest Asus Ultrabook, just launched in the USA.

Current is pulled, not pushed. I.e., you draw a certain current from a power source, the power source does not push a certain current into your circuitry. V=IR. So if you have a 5V device with the SAME resistance (same device), it will draw the same current from the power source, whether the plug is rated for 1A or 2A is not relevant.

Of course, phones charges faster from a wall socket than a USB port. This means that the work (in W) must increase, so the current must increase, and resistance must decrease, since voltage is constant. If the tablet doesn't put limits on this, then yes, you will land in a situation where you can burn it out. But generally this would be a major design deficiency, IMO.
My last post on this too ... and yes, I've learned something ... thanks Valerion ... "Current is pulled". This article explains things: http://www.extremetech.com/computing...our-smartphone

Ok, I have now done a lot of testing on the Asus TF700T.

The display is very good, you cannot tell the difference between this and an iPad 3 display (I have one available to compare).

However, the iPad 3 is a little smoother, hopefully the TF700T will improve once Asus releases Jelly Bean for this tablet.

All-in-all a very good tablet, personally I rate it above the iPad 3 because of the card slot and the additional flexibility, including the clip-on keyboard which is in a different league to a bluetooth keyboard. YMMV.

    Current is drawn, not supplied.

OT: Is the iPad still the king of tablets?: Yes

Which tablet will dethrone it?: Win8, not Android, in my opinion.

I have an iPad and TF101 and prefer the TF101, but voted Other

Reason: Nexus 7 is current and at the price its selling it would kill the rest, just a pity its not officially in SA
If it was in SA at R1600 we would not even have this poll

As for Windows 8 Intel & ARM, still needs to be proven but I am sure there is a market for it.

Seriously guys/girls ... Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean is light years ahead of iOS. It's working on my SGT10.1 tablet and it is just WOW!

As good as JB is, the comments I made earlier (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthre...=1#post8622017) still stands.

I'm still exploring and discovering but what I have so far.

Much faster and smoother. Apps install quicker. App icons move around to make space for placing a new icon (iOS). New menu system on taskbar and on pop-ups (better use of graphics). Google Now works. Mine has new standard font (could just be the change from AOKP). Main thing that I immediately noticed is the speed increase in everything (graphics, install, open/close of apps). Just feels so slick.
