Default Would you support a one world government?

Fair question, would you support it?

World government is the notion of a single common political authority for all of humanity.
All borders between nations eliminated, one global nation with one world leader and his/her parliament.
Some say this is possible others say the difference between East & West IS too big...

Quite a few united organizations active at present, many well known. There are those who speculate that these are "chess moves" in the right direction.

    follow http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_government

Lately in the news: LOST been opposed by USA senate......uncle Ronald Reagan stood firm in the 80's against it. Yet the agenda is still pushed for.

This treaty is one possible "vehicle" to justify a world government. Another one could be the "Green movement".
The argument boils down to this: If humanity wants to survive in this time of crises with "food shortages, limited resources, global warming etc" we'll have to unite.

What is your opinion and if this could be a reality would you support?

Personally, I think it would lead to chaos. Way too many people to look after and e lot of organizations with their own agendas.

Everyone would move to the more inhabitable areas, massive over population in those areas, people fighting for the resources in those areas and eventually civil wars which would lead to smaller self governed countries. Having people unite to survive will just lead to more people starving.

So no, I don't think I will support it. I am to comfortable

I would. I have no issue with it in principle. In practical terms though, it would be a bitch to pull off and a pipe-dream for the time being. This fencing off of borders and us vs them mentality is silly...

I think its an interesting idea.... like a UN type setup.

The problem is you would find nations like China and Russia dominating though

In principle it's a good idea, but in the real world, things would have to improve a lot in poor/backwards countries first, otherwise everyone would rush to Europe and America. Just look at the EU currently. Even though the coutries there are all pretty highly developed, even the small differences in quality of life sees thousands of Eastern Europeans moving into Germany, France and Benelux to try and find jobs. Now imagine if Somalia, Malawi, or Iraq were joined into that state. Would you rather live in the slums of Mogadishu, among the ruined mud huts of Baghdad, or on the banks of the Seine in Paris? Massive overpopulation of some areas and de-population of others would occur, thus ensuring that everywhere on Earth is a ****hole eventually.

As opposed to propping up thousands of isolated versions of these around the world...?
