I don't think so. Fiction has taught me that all OWGs or OGGs (Galaxy) are evil. Except the Federation.

I've made a huge mistake.
I think we are all in this together, and as such I don't oppose this idea in principal.
Practically though, I don't see it happening, nor would it be something I push for.
Put it this way - If we got the point as a species where such a thing would be possible, I suspect many of our existing issues would be dealt with anyway, kinda rendering the notion moot.

The Federation is nowhere near galaxy-wide, they only control a tiny portion of the Alpha quadrant. But the reason that works (even in fiction) is that they have strict development criteria for planets to join, again otherwise everyone would move to Earth or Vulcan or something.
Since we are speaking of fiction, the only reason Earth was able to create a unified government in many sci-fi stories (including Star Trek), is that pretty much the whole world was destroyed in WW3 and they had to start from scratch. Combined with the discovery of extra-terrestrial life that allowed humans to cooperate of course.

In principle the idea is good..
But like has been mentioned, in practice it would be a biatch to pull off and there would be untold chaos and strife due to people still having this stupid and silly need to assert their religious or cultural identity on EVERYTHING...
I struggle to see the practical implementation. It would have to be super organized. The wealth will HAVE to be evenly distributed and the crises areas (mostly Africa will have to be dealt with first. Then there's the language issue as well as the.....call it the "historical hate" between certain nations and/or cultures that has been engraved for centuries which could be a problem.
On the other hand, anything in this world is close to almost possible....and I believe somehow this will materialise
It is a nice idea....but the human race or species just aint mature enough to make it work I think.

One world government sounds too creepy for me, I say government should start with the individual, then family, then tribe, then country, but never a world government.

In one of those videos but I can't remember which one. Michio Kaku supports the idea of globalization taking America as a prime example of a multicultural country. I say it's possible but the world must be ruled with logic and in no way religion play any part in ruling. When people act on emotion or with the option to use religion as an excuse for their actions, bad things happen. It will happen, just not in any of our life times.
Take some time in watching some of his videos, very very interesting and thought provoking.

Sometimes I talk to myself if I feel like having an intelligent conversation.
I'm pro one world government, one world currency, one benevolent dictator (that's the unrealistic part)
I think it would go a long way to reducing the wars. Most wars are fought between countries fighting for land and resources to keep from the other country. Get rid of all countries and all borders and there is nothing left to fight over.
Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself. I am large, I contain multitudes.

As JW we believe that there is a "one world government" incoming.
