Jeez, I bounce those landings like they're nobody's business!! Need to practice them some more.
Thanks for the uploads Kat.

http://bit-shift.com/icontroldcs/index.html <-- This would be great, pity it's just for iPad...
What's the most difficult part of using an iPad? Telling your parents that you are gay!
Do a youtube search for HELIOS DCS A10, similar type thing that allows you to export panels to monitors or touchscreen devices.
Never tried it myself though.
On landing, check your speed, looks a little hot coming in. 120-130 kias depending on the weight.
Nice thing about this type of sim is there are always loads of good tutorials on youtube covering almost every aspect of the sim.

Had a look at HELIOS, seems it only supports directly connected monitors.
I am in the market for a tablet, and the bit-shift app may just grudgingly swing me over to getting an iPad since they don't seem to have an android port of the app as a high priority.
Had some better landings last night, when I arrive at the runway I tend to be a bit high and fast and I used to just kill my throttle right at the end which kinda made me drop like a rock. Since I'm not paying for the plane I didn't really care but seeing it on video is just embarrassing!![]()
Hahaha, classic
I tend to get my flaps down a little and bleed speed before turning long finals.
Then deploy the speed brake a fraction, maybe 20% and leave it there. Drop flaps to landing and adjust speed and re-trim.
Place the flight path marker the edge of the runway from a long way out and just keep it there. You can then use subtle speed and stick inputs to correct.
You'll be greasing the landings in no time. After a while you get a good feel for it.
If you get it right you can kill your throttle as you cross the threshold of the runway, if you still think you are a bit high, then deploy speedbrake to full and you will increase your rate of descent.
EDIT: sorry i forgot, deploy the landing gear after flaps full, then re-trim HAHA.
There are only 2 types of pilots in this world. Those that have had a 'gear up' landing and those that are still going to have one.

Flanders! You need to give me some tips on how to go about getting into this man :P
Download DCS World and purchase A-10C module from http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/
I think the license allows you to run older versions, like the one Flanders use which is compatible with TARS (which I still need to look into). I'm having lots of fun with it, so the more the merrier. I'm in Randburg, so if the download is a bit big for you I can give you a copy.
Thanks for the info - so it's a free download of the game and then you need to pay per aircraft? Downloading shouldn't be an issue for me, I just want to know whether it'll be worth the time. I read on the first page that it's a steep learning curve - realistically how many hours does one need to put in to get enjoyment from it? I've found I've picked up basic controls from Microsoft Flight Sims fairly quickly but don't exactly have time to be reading through entire manuals :P
You get the SU-25T for free with DCS World, and it can also fly certain missions along with other aircraft. Most people are interested in the A-10 since it has a fully interactive cockpit, apart from just being an awesome plane! There are quite a lot of interactive training missions available on basic navigation, aircraft operation and weapon systems which will get you blowing stuff up fairly quickly. Also if you just want instant action, there is a "game" mode which supposedly makes it less involved, but I haven't tried it.
I'm still on that learning curve, having a great time at it, and there isn't much of a rush. I'll learn it over time and hopefully some day I'll be a semi decent pilotIf you are into simulators, I can highly recommend it. Maybe get the SU-25, play around with it and see if you like it first.
Added some stiff surface crosswind to my one mission...fun and games! Somehow always ends up being more of a power-on approach. Having those combat Saitek puppies for the occasion would make me all warm and fuzzy inside I just know it!Shudder to think of an instrument approach through the pea soup in those conditions though - think I'd cry.
Scope! Dude, I won't lie - it's quite mad to learn but really awesome once you begin to wrap your head around each aspect. I consider myself a noob deluxe in the grand scheme of things just because of the fidelity of the sim. Great thing about learning the hog now is that it's all co-op for the time being so no spawn-die, spawn-die, spawn-die BS... You will have us, your wingies, guiding you along. The possibilities going forward (like combined arms and upcoming aircraft) gets me all fired up...
Main issue right now (as mentioned) is that our small but expanding community uses 2 different versions at the moment. DCS world with 1.2.0 warthog is the current but it doesn't support TARS yet. You may as well DL it though because it will be used but we're still on 1.1.1.1 (DCS A10) for the time being. You can install 1.1.1.1 separately without messing with your DCS world and 1.2.0 installation. Get it, man. We'll fly! And if you haven't before the 22nd Sep, then AAD Waterkloof will inspire you - no doubt!I'll put up a post on SGS about AAD. Will be worth getting a bunch of reprobates together for that.
Count me in for AAD Waterkloof!
Here are some screenies of one of our early air to air refuel sorties - myself, crog and vlerkies (I hope these screenies don't murder your browser, your bandwidth or the mybb forum layout):
Airborne and westbound to WP 1 over the "bay"...
Left hand turn at WP 1 to intercept "Texaco" TACAN on 12X...
Contact...
Riding the green...
Mopping up some dummy targets with a belly full of juice...
RTB...

Nice! Will download the older client and TARS tonight so I can join up with you guys as well.
Tried target spotting last night without labels, had quite a hard time at it. Spotted mucho friendlies though, but that didn't really help what I was going for :P
