Default A bigass rat munched my cat5 cable!

We get back from being away and one of the pc's suddenly refuses to connect to the network.

I check the cable and 5 and 7 are dead. I climb into the ceiling and I find about halfway along the cable there is a bite that cuts through one of the pairs. I lift up a board near the bite and there is a big glossy black rat about 15cm long without his tail.

Q1: Is there I can patch this cable without replacing the whole damn thing? I know I could use a couple of RJ45's and one of these:

but I don't really want that lying in the dusty ceiling. Its looking for trouble I think.

Q2: How do I get rid of this MOFO rat? I dont really want to poison the dude cos he is actually quite a cool looking rat and I dont want to find him with his brains bashed in either. Is there a cheap way to get rid of the dude?

I will get up there a little later and see if I can snap a pic of the guy. If it wasnt for the whole health risk I would actually consider catching him and keeping him.

You'll first have to choose between the cool looking rat or your connectivity.

Just join the cable twist it together and if you want to get serious solder it .

Add some PoE, that should spice things up for the rats.

Chances are if there is one rat, then there are many more.

Uhm as for the 150 long rat id recomend opting for the .50 sniper rifle.as for the night scope...ignore it and go full burst.

If the neighbours get suspicous just tell them ur testing out new HD sound system

There is this paste that you can buy - it makes the rats go outside. Where they die of natural causes.

(It being natural that a rat will die after eating that stuff)
