We get back from being away and one of the pc's suddenly refuses to connect to the network.
I check the cable and 5 and 7 are dead. I climb into the ceiling and I find about halfway along the cable there is a bite that cuts through one of the pairs. I lift up a board near the bite and there is a big glossy black rat about 15cm long without his tail.
Q1: Is there I can patch this cable without replacing the whole damn thing? I know I could use a couple of RJ45's and one of these:
but I don't really want that lying in the dusty ceiling. Its looking for trouble I think.
Q2: How do I get rid of this MOFO rat? I dont really want to poison the dude cos he is actually quite a cool looking rat and I dont want to find him with his brains bashed in either. Is there a cheap way to get rid of the dude?
I will get up there a little later and see if I can snap a pic of the guy. If it wasnt for the whole health risk I would actually consider catching him and keeping him.
