Very high ping in Loewenstein/Bellville Western Cape

For about the past 4 months I have been experiencing high latencies of up to 1200ms. It is worse in the evenings and is regularly between 300-900ms.
my latency can also be as low as 50ms then spike for a minute or so then comes back down.
I play BF3 online, and this is where I notice the unplayable latency.
I have an uncapped 384line with Mweb.

I have phoned Telkom and had my ports reset, i have the latest firmware for my router Dlink 2650U, and I have opened up 'BF3 specific' ports on my router.

Does anyone also experience high latency in this area?
Any advice?

probably a congested exchange , nothing much you can do

I am in Sonstraal heights, congested exchange every evening. Latency goes downhill. Nothing will change till your exchange is upgraded.

Did Telkom fix your exchange or are you still experiencing high ping? I think I might be having the same problem that you had now.

I have the same problem. It happens mainly at night and doesn't change with different caps. Its only just started since our line was supposedly "upgraded" from 4mb to 8mb. Honestly, its gone 192 > 384 > 1m > 4m >8m and I'd take my 192 back in a second if I could just get something CONSISTENT and STABLE for gaming/browsing/streaming.
