Thread: Vodacom's website is a complete and utter mess

I've been thinking this ever since I started using their website. I also use Cell C for data and that's much better. If, rather when I port voice number to Cell C, I won't have to put up with a useless website. Or maybe I'm not the target market? i.e. it's made for sending free sms's.

I wonder if anyone at vodacom reads these threads. I have written to them several times saying I think they should fire their web development team as nothing works properly and very difficult to use.
When one is logged in and one tries to send them a contact us message they come back saying that I have not been verified and I still need to give them tons of personal details to verify myself in several emails later. This is still not corrected as far as I am aware.

That's a clear sign... they seriously don't give a stuff for your opinion!

Dont fire the Developers... fire the middle management shiny shoe people with nothing better to do than provide input (read instructions) to make things work a certain way without having a clue how to develop (and i mean this in the sense they fix one problem but create 10 others because they do not THINK like a developer)

Agree probably not the programmers fault as they are working under instructions from the rest of the web development team.

Their site is useless to mix and match a phone with a contract, but must admit that it's not bad to look up how many free minutes, data, etc you have left. Actually quite good in that respect.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 - It is the only phone you will ever need.

I don't know what's so great about Cell C's site. You can't actually order anything on their site. Come back to me when I can actually pay for everything on the site with my credit card and have it delivered to my door. Their site is nothing but a glorified brochure.

Exactly, they're all useless. In other countries you can actually go to a service providers website and conclude the entire deal online without having to speak or deal with anyone.

Now try accessing the MTN site from your Galaxy Tab, I'm trying to see their coverage map and all I get is a message that my Phone is not set up correctly for WAP Browsing, I have to enter my Cell Number and a password to register for MTN Play first, what ever that is.

So no, I will not be buying anything from you MTN because you will not interact with me.

What a fail for a "Communications" company.

Cell C's site looks nice and works great to determine how much a contract will cost, but for my particular circumstances, my phone + package on Vodacom actually works out quite a bit cheaper...

well, Most Terrible Network is no better. One would think that corporates spending in excess of 30m Rand to rebuild sites like the VC portal would be able to do a better job. That's what you get when you hire external consultants without a clue about the core business (or ecommerce) trying to implement a consumer based solution. And it's not for the lack of trying it's about the 4th attempt and still no better...

Yep - site is bad - customer info is loosely coupled, in other words u have to go to different pages to view your own info in different ways. A consolidated view from a customer point of view is not apparent at all. but they're not the only ones to do this.

So many options - how many are actually useful - wonder what would happen if they checked the stats on a per page use and removed everything that isn't visited.

Must say - at least its better than telkoms site..lets not go there.

    Won't even bother!
Why do people get attacked by sharks? I mean, how do you not hear the background music?
