Unable to get an ADSL line

Good day,

So for the past 3 years I've been desperately looking for an alternative to an ADSL line to use at home. I've used several wireless internet solutions to varying degrees of satisfaction, but nothing quite adds up to what I'm looking for. High latency/ping and low bandwidth is a constant pain.

There was some cable theft in our area a few years back and Telkom refused to install new telephone lines. Instead we were supplied with a wireless phone. Since then several people living in the same street as I do have installed ADSL lines, even our neighbours have ADSL. I have called Telkom's customer care several times explaining the situation and inquiring about getting an ADSL line but they keep telling me that "it is not possible." I do not understand what is so difficult about this, what do you guys think?

don't let them close the request and keep calling every couple days. ask for the techie's to explain why your neighbors have it.

It sounds like when my other half moved into a new home, on a farm in Bloem.

Telkom constantly said that there is no infrastructure for phones, but there was actually an active phone line there before they moved in.......

Neranos Telkom can be difficult and I agree do not let them close the request and in fact ask for it to be escalated. Of course you could always look at alternatives to assist you.
MTN has extensive coverage around the Republic and has choices With high bandwidth capability. Have you any idea how much bandwidth you would need in a month? Or to put it differently, what do you want to use the connection for? Sending emails does not need high bandwidth but watching videos does? Drop me a line and I will see what I can do to help you.

I've heard good things - I signed up for their trial, but wasn't able to test it out - complex management was not impressed by the fact I wanted to put another antenna up against our building

Had the same issue getting a line in UMGHLANGA! Ended up stopping on the road and just asking a techie - less than 24 hours later my line was installed. Didn't even have to bribe.
