Default Skype Won't Say Whether It Can Eavesdrop on Your Conversations

    http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_te...rsations_.html

When asked repeatedly a Microsoft spokesperson refused to confirm or deny that Skype conversations [could be monitored]. Microsoft was granted a patent a month after purchasing Skype that covers 'legal intercept' technology designed to be used with VOIP services

This is harrowing. The last thing I want is the CIA being privy to my mom's secret cheese muffin recipe. We must take a stand...!

You discuss your secret recipes over the phone?

    When will people ever learn?

A muffin stand? I agree. We just can't use Skype to discuss the concept; don't want Microsoft ripping off our design.

Why WOULDNT Skype, technically, be able to eavedrop on calls? Or record them centrally? Or break into them and start speaking to your mom altogether? From what i understand this technology has been around for over a decade.

My Skype conversations are s-o boring, I doubt anyone would listen for more than 10 seconds.

I think you have to utter "key words" like Echelon in the UK is programmed to pick up, like bomb, or al-queda, etc

Perhaps it would be easier for everyone reading this thread if you linked and quoted the relevant Ts & Cs that transfer intellectual property to them. Somehow I highly doubt anything of that nature could possibly stand up to legal scrutiny....

I do not know where to put this question, but here goes -
How do I get myself off Facebook?
I have searched and searched on the site and I think they want to virtually make it impossible to remove your account.
