I'll wait till the pressure lets up. The servers are getting hammered to the point that other d/ls from the app store aren't even getting through.

    Upgrade went smoothly this side.

Safari feels MUCH faster ( Not having used it in ages )

Overall the system also feels snappy and willing. Haven't had any problems so far.

Nice upgrade, well worth the $20.

Edit: and apparently the voice dictation works pretty well

Hi guys just want to know something

I got the MLion GM dmg and I want to do a fresh install from SLeopard then upgrade to MLion or should I just make a install USB drive with the MLion dmg is there any difference doing that?

I must also still buy MLion from the app store but don't want to do that huge download is there any difference between the app store version and the MLion GM ie is there still some bugs in the GM version that were fixed in the app store version?

And the other route is install a fresh MLion and run all the updates what would be the best route to follow?

Can we get Mountain Lion from iStore or another Apple store on usb drive like we could with OS X Lion?

Maybe we could club together, not to pirate ($20 for a whole OS, really? Bring your app store receipt), but just so that just one ou in each city has to bear the brunt of the 4GB download? Anyone with decent broadband in Pretoria interested in helping out? On my iBurst connection it will take about a week to download.

@People: Do a fresh install with MLion on a USB stick, the only issue I foresee is that your iPhotos, etc will need to be installed from the SL disc you have and then a large upgraded is needed for MLion compatibility.

@Sensor: You can't buy it on a flash drive anymore, Apple have discontinued that route. If you bought your Mac from an iStore recently and qualify for the upgrade then they apparently will help you with the download at no cost. However if you didn't buy from them or bought outside of the official free upgrade period they will probably charge you an arm and a leg. Lucky you if they don't charge you for their bandwidth usage.

@clasqm: Since Mac OS doesn't use CD keys, theoretically one guy could buy a copy of MLion and distribute it via flash drive and Apple won't know. I have no idea if Apple inserts a unique ID into each successful MLion download in order to track individual copies.

When you go fullscreen mode, it blanks out all other displays with a grey pattern. I have two screens because I use two screens. Blanking out one makes full screen mode useless to me.

That's exactly what I had in mind. But I repeat, I intend to pay for this and I'll have a receipt to prove it.
