For a few months now I've noticed groups of two or three people at a time sitting in portable chairs at traffic lights with notepads appearing to take notes, dressed in reflective clothing.
Who are they and what are they doing?

Worst time was the one morning from about 5AM a group of them were sitting under a tent like structure making notes of the cars coming out of my complex. Very dodgy![]()

I heard form a mate that they are counting the cars for big billboard companies, so they know where to put up billboards next?
Dunno if its true tho...
They are regulars here in Garsfontein road close to my office.
But whoever employs them should take those traffic figures with a pinch of salt. I have watched them and they certainly do not count anything. They are usually sitting under their blankets chatting to each other or standing around a car eating or drinking. Clipboards lying on the ground and not paying any attention to the traffic.

it can get quite boring doing that all day.
I know one guy who works for the RCS callcenter who often counts specific cars on our bus. I will count them based on colour, or occupants or type.
