Not good news if the system needs to be replaced. Sheesh...expensive exercise just to get certification.
yeah whole new system including installation

i find it weird cause its probably just a name ...some guys advertise alarms for like 600 and i remember i had a good one fitted for around 900

Did insurance specifically ask that an alarm be fitted? As a condition of cover, I mean.

If they are just being anal about security, maybe get your friend to give the company a call to hear what options she has. AFAIK if you do not have an alarm, but have a tracker installed, then they accept that. Just get a slight reduction in premium for each security measure in place.

R180 odd bucks per month is a heck of a lot easier on cash flow than forking out R1400+. More in the long run, but as I say, easier on cash flow.

well yes insurance wants a vesa approved alarm or a tracker

yeah 99 for tracker is easier in the long run ...but paying that extra per month is abit hectic

rather fork out 1400 once and know its done

but we waiting and will see whats next

Yeah, I get what you are saying.

I was actually lucky - the car came with an alarm. After an accident last year, insurance replaced it with a newer/better one. The Tracker was more for peace of mind.
